Attend FREE Tactical Taxation Lecture on May 1 Organizations representing leading local and provincial architects have teamed up to present a FREE public lecture that will detail urban design principles that lead to lower taxes. The event will feature Joe Minicozzi, a Harvard-educated urbanist who has tallied the true cost of current city planning and devised a fresh take on sustainable development policies and practices. Writes Forbes magazine: "Minicozzi travels around the country to encourage municipalities to see how their downtowns, no matter how neglected, often contribute far more value in terms of tax revenue - property and sales tax combined - than even the biggest box store." The lecture, which will be followed by a panel discussion with local mayoral candidates, takes place on Thursday May 1 from 7 pm to 9 pm at the Zoetic Theatre (formerly the Music Palace), 526 Concession Street. Doors open at 6:30 pm. Visit #TacticalTax to learn more.

Roundtable: The Training System is Changing. Have your say.
The way in which workforce training is provided in Canada and Ontario is about to undergo a dramatic change. The federal government is moving ahead with the Canada Job Grant, a skills training program that aims to give employers a more prominent role in training workers. The Hamilton Chamber of Commerce and the Ontario Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities a nd Essential Skills Ontario, are holding roundtable discussions with businesses across Ontario to determine how training programs, including the Canada Job Grant, can be designed to meet the needs of employers. This is your opportunity to collaborate with peers in business and government and play a leadership role in advancing solutions to this crucial economic issue. We want you to be at the table for this discussion.
