Nominations will be accepted until December 31, 2013, with winners being announced at the Hamilton Community Awards dinner on January 21, 2014 at Liuna Station.

Nominations for The Hamilton Spectator Youth Volunteer of the Year are open to individuals ages 19 and under (as of December 31, 2013) and who have taken on volunteer leadership roles.
The nomination form, available at hamiltonchamber.ca, is asking potential nominators:
1) Do you know someone who is the ultimate Hamiltonian?
2) Do you know someone who works tirelessly for their community?
3) What Hamiltonian, in your estimation, made the most impact on this community in 2013?
A panel of distinguished citizens will perform independent research, along with the support letters provided by the nominators, to reach its decision.
The Hamilton Chamber would like to thank event sponsors Royal Bank of Canada, The Hamilton Spectator and the Hamilton Community Foundation for their continued generous support.
Detailed information about the nomination process is available on the Hamilton Chamber website at hamiltonchamber.ca or by contacting Marie Nash at m.nash@hamiltonchamber.ca or 905-522-1151 ext. 227.

Former Mayor a Renewal Pioneer
The great strides we're now experiencing in progressive city building worldwide began decades ago with the pioneering steps of Canadian urbanists such as David Crombie, Mayor of Toronto, 1972-1978 (pictured). Through his collaborative leadership style and grassroots activism, Toronto chose a reformist pathway in urban regeneration informed by the principles of citizen engagement, healthy neighbourhoods and downtown renewal. Mr. Crombie was in Hamilton last month to participate in The Future of Cities in Ontario, an informal Q&A session hosted by The Brain, Supercrawl and Thier + Curran Architects Inc. The event was moderated by Ryan McGreal, editor of Raise the Hammer. HIVE X 2013: Bigger, Better, and Smarter Than Ever
By: Sherry Mousavi
No wonder Hamilton has been called the ambitious city.
A city where young professionals have a platform to congregate, converse, collaborate and inspire. A community where its leaders encourage its ambitious minds to make change for the better. An innovation incubator where a generation of entrepreneurs is fostered.

A conference that is becoming a landmark event in the Golden Horseshoe attracting attendees looking to advance themselves and the Hamilton community as well as those looking for ways to attract, retain, engage and develop young leaders.
