This week's Member Profile - Vera Medeiros, RMT, Hands That Heal Wellness Centre
Some say that everyone is put on this earth for a reason; I truly believe that I was meant to help people through massage therapy. I have known since the age of 11 that I wanted to be a massage therapist. While growing up, that never wavered. Now that I am an RMT, I couldn't see myself doing anything else. I've been treating for 5 years now. I utilize a number of techniques including general Swedish massage, trigger-point therapy, stretching, and hydrotherapy within my practice. I specialize in deep tissue massage, but I also do relaxation massages, pre natal massages and massage cupping. I believe in working with my clients as a team to find a treatment that works for them specifically. My ultimate goal is to enhance my client's overall sense of emotional and physical well-being as well as their quality of life.

Transit Talk at Salon Dinner
Renew Hamilton hosted the third and final installment of Conversations with Christopher Hume and Guests last Thursday evening at LIUNA Station. Billed "High Time for Transit," this salon dinner focused on the future of public transit in Hamilton and surrounding region. The panel and audience agreed on the role of public transit as an enabler of economic development and the myriad benefits of increased ridership. Chamber President and CEO Keanin Loomis stressed the need to accelerate urban intensification as a building block for complete streets anchored by a light rail transit system. The photo shows host Christopher Hume hoisting a symbolic thank you gift acquired at Mixed Media on James Street North: a piece of artwork listing the station stops of a proposed LRT line running from McMaster University to Eastgate Square.

7th Annual Dundas Senior Day
September 14, 2013
What a success! Dundas seniors enjoyed our 7th Annual Dundas Seniors Day, and the event is getting rave reviews.
It was a day to celebrate Dundas seniors. The event was held at the Dundas Community Centre starting with Bingo, then a plated dinner. The entertainment was excellent with Paul Benton entertaining during dinner and the Burlington Silver Swing Band for post-dinner dancing.
Many thanks to our volunteers who made the day possible. Chamber members and local Dundas merchants donated more than 50 door prizes which added to the event.
The generous sponsorships from major sponsors - ScotiaBank, Homewell HomeCare, Brown Law Offices and CA A Hamilton West and many Chamber members and Dundas businesses greatly helped offset the costs of holding the event.
As we continue to grow the Dundas Seniors Day event, please know that partnerships with our sponsors are vital to the success of this day. I hope that you will be involved in the 8th Annual Dundas Senior Day in 2014!
Thanks again.
