YEP Hamilton works to bring "Barton Back"
On Saturday September 7th, YEP Hamilton rolled up their sleeves to give back. Partnered with the Barton Village BIA and with guidance from Glen Norton, YEP Hamilton began "Phase one - Clean up", of in-need areas on Barton street. They tackled Woodlands Park and some of the major corners and boulevards. It was great to see so many people willing to lend a helping hand for the cleanup, especially since it poured rain the entire time. The initiatives main focus is to shed some light on an underutilized neighbourhood that has received a bad rap over the years. The reality is Barton Street has a lot to offer and opportunity is waiting. We hope to showcase this for others to notice.
"Phase Two - Graffiti Removal" is next. Stay tuned for more information and opportunities to get involved. Contact Derek Doyle at 905 745 8444 should you have any questions or want help influence the change.

High Time for Transit on September 26
Double transit ridership in Hamilton. That's the goal set by the City of Hamilton and linked to a better quality of life for everyone. This immense community challenge calls for a range of integrated strategies, including boosting service levels, creating dedicated transit lanes and introducing smart technologies. It will also require major investments in Hamilton's transit branding and wayfinding - the images and nomenclature the breathe life into the London Underground (pictured here) and other iconic systems from around the world. These advanced strategies, and others, will be front and centre at Conversations with Christopher Hume and Guests on September 26 at LIUNA Station. This intimate salon dinner will bring together globally renowned transit leaders and an enthusiastic audience for an evening of friendship, fine food and learning. To register, contact Whitney Simmons at 905-522-1151 x 100 or w.simmons@hamiltonchamber.ca
