The Hamilton Chamber would like to welcome our new Creative Coordinator, Marie Nash.

Marie Nash is a graduate of McMaster University twice over, having completed her Honours Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies with a minor in Political Science and her Master of Arts in Communication and New Media. During her time at McMaster, she also worked as a Teaching Assistant and a Research Assistant in the Communication Studies Department and is still regularly involved with alumni outreach programs. Prior to joining the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce, Marie held the position of Marketing Specialist with StealTheDeal, a division of Sun Media, along with being the Editor of Hamilton Halton Weddings, a Town Media publication.  When Marie is not working at the Chamber, she is spending time with her husband Nathan and daughter Lola.

Connections Networking Group Summer Social

Just a reminder that our Connections evening social is scheduled for this coming Thursday, August 15th at Baranga's on the Beach, 380 Van Wagners Beach Rd in Hamilton.

The event is open to Connections members current and previous, and their guests.  There is no entrance fee - you pay for your own drinks and/or meal.

Members Making News 

The Mohawk College Community Choir is hold
ing auditions for new members on Tuesday, September 3rd, 2013, between 7:00 and 9:00 p.m. by appointment only.   They are hearing singers for all sections but are in special need of Altos, Tenors, and Basses. 

Their traditional December Christmas program is planned in Dundas, ON, which includes Schubert's 3rd Mass in Bb major as well as other Christmas favourites, a  requiem in April , and a Broadway concert in May will conclude the season. 

Rehearsals are held every Tuesday evening from 7:30 - 10:00 p.m. at Mohawk College (Fennel Campus) Hamilton. Call Louise (905) 526-7938 for an appointment or more information.   

 
"Pop Up Restaurant" -'The Fold' is launching a monthly opportunity to explore their food, service and beverage.

Fold are "popping up" at Artist Inc Hamilton. They're are only there for the night, so book your tickets early!

 

Hamilton Artists Inc. is an artist-run centre committed to the presentation, dissemination and advocacy of Canadian contemporary visual arts practices which speaks to and enhances our regional cultural activity. Click here to register. 

 

 

The Hamilton Waterfront Trust will be holding its 7th Annual  Hamilton Harbour Fishing Derby on August 17th. 

The Derby is geared toward children, particularly north end children, with educational opportunities for them to learn about the waterfront and fishing. They are celebrating the cleanup of the Hamilton Waterfront and Harbour and encourage people to connect to the water's edge and enjoy the improvements. The free events offered by the Hamilton Waterfront Trust help to enrich people's experiences at the Harbour and encourage learning about the wildlife. The Fishing Derby will enrich the experiences for all those who participate.

  

They are looking for donations, sponsorships and participants to make the 2013 Fishing Derby a success once again. Please click here for sponsorship information. Your support would be appreciated!

  

International Village BIA is proud to announce that on this Labour Day Weekend they are holding our first ever 'Oktoberfest - A Taste of International Village presented by Denninger's'.  The festival will take place on Friday, August 30th 6-11pm and Saturday, August 31st noon-11pm.  Oktoberfest will be full of amazing food including Denninger's delicious German specialties and live music from local bands including Ginger St. James, Tomi Swick and Lo-Fi to name just a few.  On the Saturday they are hosting a sidewalk sale featuring our awesome shops, restaurants and services noon-7pm on King St. E. between Wellington and Mary St.  On the Friday night, they are very excited to welcome Steven Page headlining and on the Saturday night will welcome headliner Poor Angus, a local Hamilton band that has recently made their name known internationally.

They are currently looking for volunteers for the festival, so if you, or somebody you know is interested in being a part of this fun-filled weekend, please refer to their website www.hamiltoninternationalvillage.ca under 'Oktoberfest Volunteers'.  You can also follow the festival on twitter - OktoberfestIntl or HamIntlVillage and on Facebook - International Village BIA.  For more information please email [email protected].
