Chris Murray and KeaninChamber's Role on Mobility File Intensifies

Chamber President and CEO Keanin Loomis (pictured to right of City Manager Chris Murray) announced plans to establish a Complete Streets Taskforce during last week's Sustainable Mobility Workshop at the Art Gallery of Hamilton. "The taskforce will convene top people from the City along with business and civic leaders to seize opportunities to make Hamilton safe and accessible for all modes of mobility," said Loomis. "It will support the work of other local groups and become a meeting ground for thought leadership, innovation and action."  Loomis said the taskforce will be up and running this fall. "Job one will be acting on one or two priorities that arose from the July 31 workshop," he said. "The goal is to create mobility infrastructure for a 21st century economy."

CLICK HERE to access post-workshop resources, including a media release detailing priority themes and an interview with facilitator Gil Penalosa of 8-80 Cities on the Bill Kelly Show, AM900 CHML.  A special thanks to Hamilton HIVE for organizing this important workshop in partnership with the Chamber and City of Hamilton.

Jocelyne Photo
This Week's Member Profile

Meet Chamber Member Jocelyne Mainville from Jackson Square

As the Leasing Manager of the

Lloyd D. Jackson Square complex, Jocelyne Mainville is responsible for tenancy of the 1.4 million square foot complex comprising the

Jackson Square mall as well as four office towers.

Jocelyne, whose first language is French, is a McGill University graduate and originally from Montreal.  When taking on her current role, Jocelyne brought with her a wealth of experience, having spent more than 15 years in residential property management, industrial property management, and office leasing in the Montreal region.  She and her family moved to Hamilton in 2005, and since that time Jocelyne has steadily increased the occupancy rate in the Jackson Square complex, focusing on a collaborative effort of revitalizing the downtown core.  In her current role as Leasing Manager, the occupancy rate of the Standard Life Centre itself has increased from 60% to 92%, while simultaneously increasing the retail occupancy rate for Jackson Square.  Moreover, her focus on an improved tenant mix has resulted in the partnership with key new tenants such as the iconic Anchor Bar (from Buffalo, New York), The Works Gourmet Burger, and most recently with Nations Fresh Foods, a 55,000 square foot grocery store, that was much needed in serving the downtown workers and residents.

Jocelyne and her colleagues were Large Business Award Finalists in the 2012 Outstanding Business Achievement Awards, recognizing them for their ongoing contributions to Business Excellence in the City of Hamilton.

Jocelyne works, lives and plays in Hamilton with her husband and two boys - her personal and professional focus is on trying to find balance between work and life; making Jackson Square a destination as the employment hub for downtown Hamilton, where every employee can find what they need from their workplace and get what they want for their lives.
