"Our current Members know that we have their backs and that we have the ability and power to make decisions on the spot; because we know our Members and their circumstances. I'm looking forward to getting to know our new Binbrook Members, so that we can proactively advise them on ways to save money, invest for the future and find financial solutions that are in their best interest."

A message from Derek Doyle, YEP Division Chair There certainly has been a lot of change throughout the Chamber over the past few months. New President & CEO of the Chamber and a new YEP Hamilton and Hamilton Hive Executive team. All this change is sure to motivate, create new ideas and set the sights of Hamilton and the Chamber to new heights. YEP Hamilton, a network of young professionals and entrepreneurs between the ages of 20-40 have been working together for close to 5 years as a division of the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce. Since its inception, YEP Hamilton's goals have been to raise awareness for the hidden and sometimes not so obvious amenities this City has to offer, provide opportunities for collaboration with various other networks throughout the City, encourage professional development and networking through our "Executive Round Table" event and most importantly, to have a voice in the community to influence positive change. One recent initiative is this week's 3rd annual YEP Hamilton fundraising boat cruise, taking place July 26th at 9pm on the Hamilton Harbour Queen. A fun night that showcases Hamilton's waterfront, provides networking opportunities, raises money for YEP's financial obligations and encourages people to get involved with the community.

Renew Hamilton hits the streets
 | | Satchel and Chase of S & C Cycle at work in record-setting heat |
The Chamber's Renew Hamilton project is always on the lookout for novel and effective approaches to urban regeneration. Last week, on a tour of downtown Toronto, we spotted these two young entrepreneurs operating a bike repair shop out of a converted shipping container at the corner of Bathurst and Dundas Street West. Business was brisk and the scene was colourful - it validated the economic and social benefits of encouraging pop-up enterprises in unexpected places. Learn more about creative placemaking at Project for Public Spaces and 8-80 Cities.
