Please mark your calendars for some key Chamber activities taking place in the coming days and weeks:
Friday January 11, 8-9am: Coffee with CEO and Guest: Hamilton Police Chief Glenn DeCaire - join your Chamber colleagues for a conversation about topical business issues in a casual setting. As we start a new year, we have are hosting this monthly event at a new location - the Sheraton Hamilton. We want to thank the Sheraton Hamilton for their support of this initiative. The cost is $10 (continental breakfast included with the event).
Monday January 14, 8-9am: Monday Morning Marketing: Digital Advertising and Cross-media Marketing with presenter: Michael Salvatori, Imagination Plus. $15 for Chamber members (continental breakfast included). Location: Hamilton Chamber offices (120 King Street West).
Monday January 21, 5:30pm: Hamilton Community Awards. The Chamber Board is pleased to announce that an honourary Distinguished Hamilton Citizen of the Year will be awarded to the Honourable Lincoln Alexander (posthumously) at this year's event. In addition, the 75th annual RBC Distinguished Hamilton Citizen of the Year and 15th Hamilton Spectator Youth Volunteer of the Year will be awarded. Special Guest speaker is Olympian Cheryl Pounder, Gold medal winner, Women's Ice Hockey. Location: Michelangelo's Banquet Centre. Have your voice heard - public input requested
Gaming Facility: The City of Hamilton will be hosting two public meetings regarding a gaming facility, or casino, in Hamilton. The sessions will be held  : Wednesday January 16, 6:30-8:30pm Waterdown District High School Thursday January 17, 6:30-8:30pm Hamilton City Hall The Hamilton Chamber will be sending a survey to our Chamber members in late January to ask for your perspectives and input to a gaming facility in Hamilton. Please watch future issues of Pipeline for more information. Randle Reef: The Hamilton Remedial Action Plan is hosting an open house on Wednesday January 16 from both 3-5pm and 6-8pm at the Waterfront Centre to provide updates on the Randle Reef Sediment Remediation Project. In addition, on January 4, 2013, the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency issued a Public Notice, available at http://www.ceaa.gc.ca/050/details-eng.cfm?evaluation=80001 announcing the start of a 30-day public comment period on the Comprehensive Study Report of the proposed Randle Reef Sediment Remediation Project in Hamilton Harbour, Ontario. You can obtain an electronic copy of the Comprehensive Study Report from the above noted web link. Chamber Members Secure Top Engineering Talent Be the next chamber member to engage a graduate student from the Walter G. Booth School of Engineering Practice at McMaster University. Students with expertise in engineering design - product, infrastructure and process systems - are available this summer on a project basis. Projects lined up to date range from energy conservation and human health to process optimization and prototyping. Participating organizations gain access to entrepreneurial students skilled at solving real world problems and identifying new business opportunities. Access to university faculty is also provided.  One of the Hamilton Chamber's past Board Chairs, Gary Graham of Gowlings (and the 74th RBC Distinguished Citizen of the Year) was recently awarded a Queen's Jubilee Medal for his work and contribution to the manufacturing sector in Canada.  Sandra Stephenson has joined the law firm Evans Sweeny Bordin LLP as a partner where she will be heading up a new corporate, commercial and estate division as part of the firm's future growth plans.
