Internationally Educated Engineers received training at the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce

On Nov 21, 2012 a group of internationally educated engineers  completed the Exam Skills Preparation course delivered by the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers and hosted at the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce.

The course included topics in engineering, legal and ethical practices in the Ontario workplace, as well as techniques and strategies to successfully write the Professional Practice Exam (PPE) as administered by PEO.

Maher Hamade, manager of the Chamber Global Experience @ Work program is pleased for having this course delivered for the first time in Hamilton. He added, Hamilton is fortunate for having a large number of internationally educated engineers.  More than 50 internationally educated engineers have attended one of our program networking events last summer, and we would like to efficiently utilize this global talent by fully integrating them into the local workplace. Such training courses will help them pass the exams required by PEO quickly and get them ready to join the Canadian workplace.

The Ontario Society of Professional Engineers has sponsored a survey to collect information on employers' perceptions of skills gaps in engineering and employers' experiences in hiring or seeking to hire internationally educated engineers who have already immigrated to Canada. This survey will take approximately 20 minutes to complete. Responses will remain anonymous.
