You can become a SUPER READER!
Here's how the
Summer Reading Program works and the prizes you can win!

Signing up for and participating in the Summer Reading program is  SUPER easy!
SUPER Prizes! Prizes! Prizes!
Anyone can join. Simply visit the Library or the Library's website: www.greensburglibrary.org.

Sign up with a user name and password and start reading!

Pre-readers will have a goal of 14 books read to them for each level. Elementary students, teens and adults will read either 210 minutes or 210 pages per level. Students and adults reading to pre-readers can count that time, as well.

You can read books, magazines, eBooks, audio books, newspapers, etc.

As you finish each level, stop by the Library to pick up your prize and put your drawing slip in the bag of your choice.

It's just that easy!

And, the Library is making it even easier by waiving the fines on any child or teen card one time for the summer.
So, nothing will stop a child from becoming a SUPER READER
at the Library!
(Fine forgiveness on late fees from the Greensburg or Westport Libraries only. We cannot waive fees for lost or damaged items.)

Keep reading to meet some
of the Library staff!

The Greensburg Library is happy and excited to participate in Summer Food Service Program
in cooperation with the
Decatur County YMCA.

The Greensburg Public Library will be a meal site on
Monday's
from 11 - 11:45 a.m.

During the school year, over 50% of Greensburg/Decatur County school children receive free and reduced-price breakfast and lunch. But, when school  is out, many of the children relying on these school meals go hungry.  Summer meal programs help close  that gap. Summer meals give children the nutrition they need so they are  ready to learn when they return to school.

What is this program?

The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) is part of the National School Lunch Program. This is a federally-funded, state-administered program that provides nutritious meals to
children in low-income areas during
the months when school is not in session.

There is no cost for the lunch, but  some rules do apply. Lunches will  be served to any child age birth to 18. The lunch must be eaten at the Library during the designated times.
For more information, contact the Library at 812-663-2826 or the
YMCA
at 812-663-9622.

Meet our Staff!

There will be some new faces at the Library this summer! Stop by to meet:

Mariel Gowder

Mariel has been at the Library for "four wonderful weeks!" She says the best part
of working at the Library is "helping patrons, especially kids, find that one
special book they've been looking for...just helping people in general is fun
and rewarding!"

Mariel shares a small house with her boyfriend, Dillon and two fat cats. She enjoys hiking in Brown County, visiting friends, shopping and reading. Her favorite author is Ellen Hopkins and she is currently "obsessed" with the TV series, Game of Thrones.
Mariel grew up in Georgia where she spent time volunteering at the local animal shelter on Saturdays. She is a North Decatur graduate from the class of 2012.

Kelsey Moorman

Kelsey has also been at the Library for four weeks. She is training as a Student Page and will be busy this summer shelving books and helping patrons with the Summer Reading program. Kelsey is a North Decatur High School student and is involved in many school activities, including National Honor Society, SADD, High-Five, Student Council, Academic Team, Choir, Drama Club, Key Club and FCCLA. In her free time (when she has any!) Kelsey likes to read and travel. She has been involved in dance for 10 years and has been in six musicals. She has an older brother, Eric, and their mom and dad are Beth and Tom Moorman. She has a dog named Rosie and a cat named Checkers. Her favorite book series is Tiger's Curse by Colleen Houck. Kelsey loves movies, but can't decide on a favorite. Her favorite quote comes from the movie Kung Fu Panda, "Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That's why it's called present." Kelsey loves colored pens and notebooks and says that, "basically, I think that office supplies are the bomb!"

Landon Phillips

Landon started at the Library in July of 2014. He is also a Student Page. This will be his first summer working through Summer Reading. He says the best part of his job is "being a help to people." In his free time, Landon likes to play video games, watch movies and use the computer. His favorite movies are Transformers, The Dark Knight, The Avengers, Oblivion, Mission Impossible and James Bond. Landon is the middle child with an older brother and a younger sister. He also has a dog named Layla.
