We're back...and it's free!
Ybor City Chamber Hosts Guavaween 2013
Don't you just love a good costume party - ladies in short, sexy outfits of all descriptions and guys looking all macho and fierce in an indescribable array of get-ups. The Ybor City Chamber, in Tampa's National Historic Landmark District, welcomes you to our 28th Annual Halloween Costume-Bash, better known as Guavaween.
Join us in your best "monster outfit" for this year's edition with a "classic movie monster" theme. Shuffle down to the District and hangout at one of our "Promotional Partner's" venues: J.J.'s Café & Bar, Crowbar, Hamburger Mary's, Buffalo Wild Wings or James Joyce Irish Pub. If you think your costume is awesome - hot, scary or just plain weird - convince them to give you a wristband to enter the Costume Contest.
The Outdoor Concert begins at 7:00 PM at the Centro Ybor Stage featuring Scilter, a Florida alt-rock group from Zephyrhills, growing more popular by the day. Scilter is back by popular demand, having played Guavaween 2010 to a very enthusiastic crowd!
The Costume Contest sponsored by GTE Financial begins at 9:00 PM and will be hosted by the original "Mama Guava." This year's contest features a top cash prize of $1,000 with five additional awards:
ˇ Best in Theme - classic movie monsters
ˇ Best Couple - sexy, scary...use your imagination
ˇ Best Group - pick a theme and get your friends to help you carry it out
ˇ Best Political Satire - you have so much to work with this year
ˇ Most Creative - well that's up to you... isn't it?
Thanks to our Event Sponsors, C.H. Robinson, Hilton Garden Inn and Tre Amici @ the Bunker for helping to keep Guavaween alive and well. Please visit our Promotional Partners for your warm-up and after-parties.
Oh, and did we mention - admission to the Outdoor Concert and the Costume Contest are free - that's right, compliments of the house.
