Ybor Chamber

Member Spotlight

Ybor is fortunate to have one of the "Fastest Growing Companies" in the Tampa Bay area, Ali Specialties. They are one of fifty finalists in the Tampa Bay Business Journal's 2013 Fast 50 Awards Luncheon on July 18th.

As if that wasn't enough, Ali is one of the finalists for the TBBJ's 2013 Business Woman of the Year. If you know Ali and Nicole and Natalya and the rest of her crew, then you are probably not surprised by all the accolades.

Ali Specialties is a full-service marketing promotional product agency, offering thousands of different and unique items that are designed to help you market your business and events. The Chamber has utilized their services and the product and service is top-rate. Ali Specialties was featured at our February 2013 Business Expo: Ybor @ Work.

Ali moved her company to Ybor from Rocky Point last year and has become an active member of the Ybor Chamber, serving on our Membership Committee. She and her staff have brightened up many a Chamber networking event.

Good luck Ali. We're all rooting for you!

Chairman's Message

Hello Everyone,

Summer has definitely arrived! I recently took off for a week with the family and we went down to Miami for a couple days, but spent most of the vacation in Ft. Lauderdale. While both places are very nice and we had a great time at both, nothing beats Ybor. When getting back to Tampa the first place my three little ones (Mariah 10, Daniella 8, and Little David 3) wanted to go was to Ybor. After unpacking our bags, we came straight to the Historic District to catch a couple of movies at Muvico in Centro Ybor and then went to their new favorite spot YoBoys for some awesome yogurt. Later we rode the trolley to the Tampa Bay History Center and had a great lunch at the Columbia Cafe. We are truly blessed to live in a city that has so much to offer.

Speaking of what Ybor has to offer, make sure you check out the Chamber's window at the 16th Street Parking Garage. Thanks to a mini-grant from Ybor City Development Corporation and the imaginative minds at SBC SignWorks, we were able to rework the window to provide visitors with a proper welcome to the district and showcase our annual Chamber events. I recommend you check it out the next time you are by the 16th Street Garage.

I'm excited about the upcoming monthly Chamber Membership Luncheon on August 13th. Our guest speaker will be Paul Steinman, District 7 Secretary for the Florida Department of transportation. Mr. Steinman will cover the changes taking place on the 21st/22nd Street corridors. We will also be presenting the Chambers Scholarship to Hillsborough Community College.

Hope to see you there!

-David Alvarez
