Ybor City is the home to many creative ventures, and one of the most creative is Event Show Productions (ESP), which specializes in business theatre and corporate entertainment. Dorene Collier and her staff of amazing choreographers, singers, actors, entertainment & technical producers, musical directors and stage managers can put together a show like no other. They created and produced an original Christmas musical, Holiday Inc., which was performed at the Straz Center in 2011 and 2012.
ESP can produce anything from corporate welcome night receptions to theatrical dinner shows to product launches. They have entertained at the Chamber's Business Expo, Holiday luncheon and Oktoberfest Pub Crawl.
Something very exciting is happening tonight. Event Show Productions new entertainment act,
tellAvision, is auditioning on America's Got Talent tonight at 8:00 pm on NBC. How cool is that! tellAvision is a moving story book using technology and talent and is a first of its kind.
I don't know about you, but I will be watching America's Got Talent tonight to cheer on Ybor's own Event Show Productions. Good luck guys!

Summer is here; although it doesn't officially start until Friday (can you believe that). "M" took me to Sarasota for a birthday weekend. We had a great time, stayed at Hotel Indigo, had dinner at Salute, a wonderful Italian restaurant and took-in the St. Armand's Circle Craft Festival. We ran into Nataly Balk, of Ybor's own Singing Stone Galley, who had the best jewelry in the show.
We had a banner week at the Ybor City Chamber - it was busy to say the least. We had a turnout of just under 90 for Raul Alfonso, Port CCO's, presentation at the June Membership Luncheon. The results of our First Annual Member Survey came back very positive and were conveyed to the Board of Directors at the Annual Retreat, held at the HCC Training Center on Davis Islands. We had productive breakout sessions on: Marketing & Public Relations, Expanding Sponsorships, Developing New Events/Elements and the perennial "Guavaween."
We have had a very smooth transition of leadership from Andrea Gonzmart to David Alvarez. It helps when your community leaders are friends as well as colleagues. I am pleased with how far the Chamber and its Board of Directors has come in the last eight years. We now have more young officers and our directors represent an even broader cross-section of the Ybor business community.
The Gala Committee has already had its first meeting and is making preparations for our 48th Annual Gala and presentation of the 20th Adela & Cesar Gonzmart Award. The Committee is considering a "tropical theme" for this year's event to be held at the Columbia - Saturday, September 21st, 6:30 PM. Please save the date!
Make plans to join us as an exhibitor for Summer Business Expo: Ybor @ Work to be held on July 9th from 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM in lieu of our regular Membership Luncheon at the Columbia. This is a great opportunity to promote your services to the Ybor City community. Contact Anna Ramos at 248-3712 x21 or email@example.com. Gold Sponsors are GTE Financial and Hillsborough Community College and Silver Sponsors are Bright House Networks and Grimaldi Insurance, Inc.
