Ybor Chamber Member Spotlight
One of our newest members and newest food establishments in the district is Yo-Boys Frozen Yogurt. Located on the 18th Street block, Yo Boys is a welcome addition to our Ybor family. I love frozen yogurt so I am especially happy to have them just down the block.
Yo Boys is owned and operated by the brothers Savas. Established in 2011 in Northern New Jersey, Yo Boys opened its second restaurant just over two months ago in Ybor City. James Savas and General Manager Alicia Clark run the Yo Boys Ybor and offer a delicious product in a hip and trendy atmosphere. The restaurant is bright and inviting and the back patio offers a fun place to hang out with your friends or throw a party. They offer yogurt and ice cream cakes and can cater a party at your home, office or in their back patio. Not only does Yo Boys offer frozen yogurt Wednesday through Saturday, but starting this Friday, they will be offering fresh made tacos for Ybor's late night crowd, from midnight to 3:30 am. Yo Boys offers 14 different flavors of yogurt and 60+ toppings. I love to stop by for lunch. As a matter of fact, when I wrap up this Spotlight, I'm heading over to Yo Boys. Love to mix their Outragous Orange with Vanilla - tastes like an orangesicle! Chair's Message
First let me say that I am very honored to be the Chair of the Ybor City Chamber of Commerce. My family has deep roots in Ybor with my great grandparents and other relatives rolling cigars and owning several small businesses in the district.
Ybor City has always been very much a part of my life. I can remember my great grandmother bringing me to Tropicana for Cafe con Leche & Cuban toast and attending the annual Fiesta Day. I have so many great memories of Ybor City and hope to add to them this year as Chair of the Chamber.
This year we are faced with many challenges but I trust that with our devoted Board members, Chamber members, staff and volunteers, this will be a great year for the Chamber and our district.
During my term, my main focus will be showcasing what the Chamber already does for the district and improving how we do it.
Last year, between Chamber special events and tourists at our Information Center, we saw over 42,000 visitors. Through Chamber marketing efforts, we had:
- 330,000 Website visits
- 16,000 Referrals to shops, restaurants, hotels, and bars by our Visitor Information Center
- 80,000 Walking Map & Guides printed and distributed
We will continue to develop & fine tune existing events to help them grow and benefit the Chamber, it's members and our community.
I look forward to a productive, fun and exciting year with all of you. Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
David Alvarez
