Ybor Chamber Member Spotlight Ybor City just hosted the Annual Outback Bowl Parade on New Year's Eve. In its 27th year, the Outback Bowl is a favorite of not only Tampa Bay, but also teams from the SEC and the Big Ten Conference. This year's teams, the South Carolina Gamecocks and the Michigan State Wolverines put on a great show, not only on the field, but in Ybor City as well. Their fans were enthusiastic and arrived in great numbers and partied hardy in our Historic District. The parade was one of the best that Tom and I have seen in years, with great weather and even better fans. Not your typical Ybor parade, the Outback Bowl featured high school bands from around the country, as well as each Outback Bowl college band. There were even several Krewe's this year handing out beads. You can't have a parade in Ybor without beads. The Chamber's buddy at the Outback Bowl, Director of Sales, Jerry Kulig, keeps us up-to-date on everything Outback all year long. Tom, Tom and I have spent many a December 30th, putting up Outback Bowl sponsor banners on balconies throughout 7th Avenue. Such dedication! - Michele Keating Jerry Kulig, Director of Sales Outback Bowl 4211 W. Boy Scout Blvd. Tampa, FL 33607 813-874-2695 www.outbackbowl.com |

Message From The Chair
ˇHola Ybor!
Happy New Year! There is something about a new year that can be invigorating, right? A new year gives us the opportunity to wash out the old and bring in the new. It marks the start of a new beginning filled with new goals, and of course, New Year's resolutions. Usually my resolutions are filled with both personal and business goals, probably much like everyone else. The Ybor City Chamber of Commerce has very much become a part of both my business and personal life over the past few years, so it seems only natural for one of my resolutions to gravitate in that direction.
In 2013, I want to focus on being a Chamber that better serves our members and our community. So with that being said, one of my New Year's resolutions is to make it a point to get out and about in the district to visit our members. I want to hear from you personally how the Chamber, and its Board of Directors, can better serve you. I want to build upon the relationships that already exist and more importantly, I hope to build new, long-lasting ones. So if you see me wondering about the district or enjoying myself in one of the many fine establishments that lace our streets, by all means, stop by to say hello - I love seeing old, familiar faces and I love meeting new ones!
In addition to my more informal, "Ybor-esque" methods of collecting information, the Chamber is going to continue these efforts with a Membership survey that will gradually be sent out to our members. We cannot grow as a Chamber or as a community without your feedback, so please take the time to tell us what we are doing right and what we can do to better serve you!
I wish you and your family a healthy, happy and prosperous 2013 and I look forward to sharing the many good times that are yet to come in this New Year! Until next time...
ˇViva Ybor!
