ˇHola Ybor!
Fall is off to an exciting start with not a lull in sight!
The Chamber kicked this year's Latin social season off with real style with a Gala that would've made my grandmother, Adela, proud without a doubt! As promised, the evening was filled with dancing, dining, and as always, a great time. I would like to congratulate the Eugene C. Iavarone family once again for being presented the 19th annual Adela and Cesar Gonzmart Award. I would also like to congratulate Sandra Fernandez-Lopez, Elliott Wheeler and the entire Gala committee for an evening that won't soon be forgotten.
Next "on tap" in Ybor City is the 3rd Annual Oktoberfest Pub Crawl which will be on Saturday, October 6th, from 4pm until 8pm. This has to be one of my favorite Chamber events... In fact, I am stepping it up a notch this year and will be "crawling" the streets of Ybor in my Dirndel. The Crawl begins in the Centro Ybor courtyard and includes 17 participating "pubs" that will provide patrons a free sample of Oktoberfest or premium beer. I can't imagine any better way to visit all of my favorite spots in Ybor in one afternoon, and possibly find some new one's as well! To register, go to www.ybor.org and click on OktoberFest.
At the end of October, come find out just how many "Shades of Ybor" there are at Guavaween on October 27th. This year the Chamber will feature over 20 bands at venues ranging from The Ritz Ybor to the Market on 7th. And don't miss out on the Costume Contest which will take place at the Centro Ybor stage at 9pm, with prizes ranging from $250 to $1,000. I hope to see everyone out there in your best Halloween costume-attire, enjoying the sights, sounds and tastes of Ybor at one or more of our great dining, drinking and "good-time" establishments!
