Looking Back to the Future

November 2013 is an important time for Hospice Hawaii, as it marks the start of our 35th year anniversary celebration! For many, especially longtime president and CPO Kenneth L. Zeri, the anniversary lends itself to considerable reflection, both in terms of how far the organization has come, and where it wants to go in the future. Click here to read more…

President's Message By Kenneth L. Zeri, RN, MS

I’ve recently been reflecting upon the rather amazing fact that Hospice Hawaii is beginning its 35th year of service to our community. This is a significant milestone for any organization, especially a local not-for-profit. And like any other organization, Hospice Hawaii has weathered some tough times. One of the keys to surviving is to have very deep roots in the community. Click here to read more…

A New Mission Partner

A warm welcome and mahalo to Hospice Hawaii’s newest mission partner: Hawaii Energy Connection (HEC), which has donated $20,000! One of Hawaii’s fastest-growing companies, HEC is a commercial and residential solar contracting firm known for its popular KumuKit packages. Click here to read more…

Give Aloha

Hospice Hawaii once again took part in Give Aloha, Foodland’s Annual Matching Gifts Program, this September. Foodland customers were invited to make a donation up to $249 throughout the month, using their Maika’i card. Foodland and Western Union then donated a matching amount to the nonprofit chosen by the customer.
Thanks to this program, Hospice Hawaii received more than $1,343.05 to be used to support its overall mission. That includes patient care and treatment, therapy, grief counseling, and spiritual healing activities such as the annual family bereavement camp, among many other services. Mahalo to all who participated and chose Hospice Hawaii to receive your donation and the matching funds!

Hospice Hawaii Benefits from Charity Walk

The 35th Annual Visitor Industry Charity Walk in May was fruitful for Hospice Hawaii. More than $28,000 was raised on the island of Lanai, with a portion of the amount going to Hospice Hawaii to establish end-of-life and palliative care services on the Pineapple Island.
The Annual Visitor Industry Charity Walk is one of the biggest fundraisers in the islands, and this year brought in more than $1.6 million.

Mahalo, Hawaii Central Federal Credit Union!

Hospice Hawaii is thrilled to announce a new partnership with Hawaii Central Federal Credit Union. Employees raise funds for selected charities throughout the year, and this year, they have chosen Hospice Hawaii as the recipient.
