 Rulers Rule! 

"Hey, Pencil Point, why do you look so sad?"  I asked her as she sat and ate her afternoon snack of Famous Amos cookies.

"Well, there is a new ruler and Mom says I can't have it until I am a grown up.  And it is so cool, and looks so easy to use,"  said Pencil Point.

"I haven't seen this new ruler.  What makes it special Pencil Point?"  I asked.

"Well, look!  You don't have to guess or try and figure out the lines.  It tells you the measurements.  And I love it.

 "Wow, Pencil Point.  You are right!  That is a great ruler.  I think a lot of people will like this.  Why did Mom say no?"  I asked.

 "She said I had to learn measurements and know them before I can have this.  That someday I might have to measure something and know how to figure out the lines... But, Pencil Man, I think she doesn't know how to read a ruler either and that is why she is so excited about this new one," said Pencil Point.

"Well, I think your Mom is right but I think you can borrow mine when I get one, Pencil Point!"  I said.
