It must be spring - Bayfield Chamber offers workshops to members
Workshops have become a rite of spring at the Chamber. The Chamber will be offering workshops this spring that will cover the use of ChamberMaster software. Learn how to refresh your member page on bayfield.org, add an event, hot deal or job listing. The website continues to be the main marketing tool of the Chamber and visitors are looking for your information. The more information you have on bayfield.org, the better chance of converting that person into a customer. Along with this workshop, there will also be workshops on Facebook and a new workshop on how to build a website using Weebly software. Tristan Fitzgerald, the new Technical Manager, will be facilitating these workshops with Erin and Debi. Watch for dates and times to come in our weekly blasts.

Street construction will begin this month
The "Re-Struction" of State Highway 13 is slated to begin this month as soon as weather permits. The bids have been awarded and all that remains is for the weight restrictions to be lifted before construction can begin. On April 11th, the Chamber will host a "Hard Hat Party" to kick off the construction and this event will also serve as our April Chamber Afterhours. Please join us at the Bayfield Lakeside Pavilion from 5pm to 6:30pm to learn all about the construction schedule and summer happenings. Information will be available to take with you to hand out to visitors and to train employees on how to make the best of the situation. A rendering of the completed downtown will be available to view, complete with new historic light poles, and block captains will be available to answer your questions. The Pier Plaza will be providing snacks and beer, so please join us at the Pavilion on April 11th to kick off the renovation of our beautiful downtown. Please contact Debi if you have any further questions.

Looking for seasonal employees?
Chamber members are reminded that they can post their job openings for the coming summer season on the Chamber website. Many members have commented that this site provided them with employees last year. The Chamber will also be advertising this job opening feature on bayfield.org in local newspapers in early May and including the link on our website homepage. If you need assistance in posting your openings, Debi or Tristan will be happy to assist you.

Big Top Chautauqua receives Tourism Award
Big Top ChautauquaThe Governors Council on Tourism has awarded Lake Superior Big Top Chautauqua with the 2013 "Arts, Culture and Heritage Award." Big Top Chautauqua is truly unique to Wisconsin and the nation, as it is the only all canvas, continually operating performing arts venue in the country. The summer concert season brings 30,000 people to the tent for Big Top’s original performances, which are as educational as they are entertaining and remind us why Wisconsin is an amazing place to live and visit. Big Top turns 27 years old this year, and has presented more than 1,600 performances and entertained more than half a million people. As a Wisconsin original and amazing treasure, Big Top has earned its title as "The Carnegie Hall of Tent Shows."

Volunteers needed for Earth Day Litter Pick Up
Each year the Chamber sponsors a spring clean-up where Chamber members and Bayfield residents clean sweep the city with a litter pick up. This April, the Litter Pick Up will take place on Earth Day, April 22nd. We're trying something new and will have materials available for the pick up from 8:30am to 5pm at the Chamber office, for your convenience. City staff assist the clean up by providing bags and picking up filled trash bags left on city street corners. If you can help for an hour or two please sign up with Debi at the Bayfield Chamber at [email protected]. The more volunteers, the less time it will take!

Donations sought for Bayfield's "Bloomin Hanging Baskets"
Bayfield and Bloom logoHanging flower baskets have once again been ordered to create a festive spring and summer ambience in Bayfield. Please consider a donation to the Chamber to help pay for these hanging baskets which add so much to the town's atmosphere. Each basket costs approximately $55, and they will be arriving in late May. Please drop off a donation to help supplement the cost of these baskets at the Chamber Office. Due to construction on Rittenhouse Avenue, baskets will only be hung in Memorial Park and on Broad Street/Chamber office this year. Any amount is very much appreciated.
