What to do in Alliance
|
Alliance is so small; there can't possibly be anything to do for fun there, right? Wrong. As a student at Mount, you get the best of both worlds - a small campus feel with a close-knit surrounding community and a city with numerous activities for students. Here are just a few of the places I loved to visit while I was a student at Mount! - Cinemark Carnation Cinema:Where else can you watch newly released, blockbuster movies for $5? With that price, you can't pass up purchasing a bag of popcorn and a coke to share with your movie buddy. And on Discount Tuesday, tickets are only $3! The Maze Runner hits theaters September 19 and Gone Girl (featuring Mount Union's very own Carrie Coon '03) will be released October 3, so grab a new Purple Raider bestie and head to Cinemark!
- Green Farms: Green Farms Country Market is located across from Wal-Mart and has a large selection of fresh fruit, vegetables and other food items at very low costs. Personally, I visit for the flowers and pumpkins at fall time!
- Rodman Public Library: Rodman Library is only a three-minute drive from campus and is a great location for quiet time and relaxation. While the library on campus is a great resource to use, it's nice to venture off campus for some alone time. Who doesn't love to get lost in a book, adventure through a different world and forget about those exams and quizzes once in a while?
- Hot Pots Pottery: Pottery and canvas painting, candle making, mosaics, glass fusion - there are countless possibilities at Hot Pots! Keep this spot in mind when needing a fun night away from homework and studying.
- Handle's/DQ: One of my favorite traditions with my roommates was "Treat Day Grey's Day Thursday." Every Thursday we looked forward to making a run to DQ or Handles, grabbing a refreshing treat and making it back just in time to watch Grey's Anatomy together, our favorite show. What traditions will you make with your best friends at Mount Union over the next four years?
