Research Opportunities
There are many opportunities for students to participate in academic research - independently, with classmates and with faculty members. In fact, we have an entire day on campus dedicated to academic research, a time when students and faculty set aside time to learn from undergraduates on campus who have conducted outstanding research projects. SCHOLAR Day, which stands for Mount Union's student celebration honoring our latest academic research, was recently held on Tuesday, April 22. Students from all academic disciplines participated, and you can now review a sample of the presentations online.

Academic Honoraries
At Mount Union, students have ample opportunities to get involved and join professional societies and academic honoraries. These are organizations that directly support an academic field of study or are linked with an academic program at Mount Union, including those that are honorary in nature.

Director of Bands
Mount Union will welcome Dr. Otis French as the new director of bands early this summer. French has served as the director of bands at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania for 12 years where he conducted the marching band, concert band, chamber winds, jazz ensemble and basketball band. He wrote the marching show drill for the university marching band as well as other groups. Additionally, French taught several academic courses in the university's music curriculum including music theory, conducting and all instrumental lessons. He has also represented the United States both at home and abroad for 24 years as a professional conductor, euphonium soloist and section leader in the Army Music Program. Read more.
