This month, we are featuring Dr. Mandy (Geddis '98) Capel and Dr. Melissa Askren-Edgehouse '99, both assistant professors of education. They discuss the new Masters of Arts in Educational Leadership program, which will begin next fall. Listen to their interview with Anne.

Mount Union Women Members of the Mount Union Women organization will be recognized during the Alumni Brunch for their dedication and support of current female students. The group was founded in 1933 to support the education of women. Last year, the group was able to award 20 scholarships to female students during the annual Senior Recognition and Honor's Convocation!
They are always looking for new members to join the group, so come check out a meeting! Any female graduate or friend of the University can be a member. There are several meetings throughout the year for fellowship and raising funds for their scholarships.

Schooler Lecture Author Khaled Hosseini will present the Schooler Lecture on Thursday, October 27 at 8 p.m. in the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex (The MAAC) at the University of Mount Union. Hosseini, a native of Afghanistan, is the author of two New York Times best sellers - The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns.
Hosseini was named a U.S. Envoy to UNHCR, the United Nations Refugee Agency in 2006. Most recently in 2007, he founded The Khaled Hosseini Foundation to provide assistance to the people of Afghanistan and help alleviate suffering and build healthy communities.

In the News... Mount Union's football team has made its presence felt on the field time and again. Yet, it's what the Purple Raiders have done off the field that seems to mean so much more than scoring touchdowns, winning games and hoisting championship hardware, at least in the eyes of students at Northside Elementary School in Alliance, Ohio. "Did You Know..." 57 students applied to be a part of The Mount Union Fund Student Call Center (a total of 11 positions were available) ... These dedicated students will be contacting you soon!- Currently, 75% of Mount Union's full-time students are living in university housing.
- Green initiatives have been incorporated into the new apartments on Union Avenue including the use of recycled materials, utilization of local resources and companies, low-emission paint and carpet and high-efficiency windows and HVAC systems.
- More than 80 students, faculty, staff, trustees and alumni (divided into nine teams) are working hard to complete Mount Union's first Systems Portfolio, an approximately 100-page document describing Mount Union's systems and processes ... all a part of our ongoing academic quality improvement program.
