Mentor Coach Spotlight
    Ian

Ian is a 2013 New York Mentor Coach. He is an Assistant Vice President at Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation. Ian is a consistent source of support for his Fellow, Geury. Geury is a McNair Scholar, an intern at the Manhattan DA, and a former intern with the New York City Police Department. While Ian comes from a background in Finance, he has identified ways to continue to support Geury in his field of interest, criminal justice. Ian conducted mock interviews to prepare Geury for an interview with the nonprofit organization Part of the Solutions, where he successfully completed an internship. Ian has helped Geury cultivate important skills, including complex decision-making and stronger writing skills. He also provides feedback on Geury's assignments and helps him manage his time so he can successfully complete an advanced dual bachelor's and master's degree program while participating in prestigious internships, volunteer projects, and more. Thank you for all that you do, Ian!

We are excited to welcome Tiffany McQueen as Illinois Executive Director at America Needs You!

In her role, Tiffany will be responsible for the strategy, performance and success of ANY-Illinois, with a particular focus on: designing and implementing a local fundraising strategy; establishing programmatic goals and maximizing our impact in Chicago; and managing relationships with staff, volunteers, and local stakeholders.

Prior to joining America Needs You, Tiffany served as the Director of External Affairs and Development for the Hope Institute for Children and Families where she was responsible for providing strategic direction and execution of all fundraising and external affairs objectives. Tiffany has 20 years of impactful leadership experience and an impressive track record of successes in program design and execution, strategic partnership development, and driving key goals within progressive public, private, and nonprofit settings.

We are thrilled to have Tiffany on the team and we are eager to witness the growth of ANY-Illinois under her leadership!

Finally, I'd like to share that we are moving to a quarterly newsletter. Though you'll still hear from us in between newsletters about our events and program developments, we think this is the best way to keep the community engaged by providing the most pertinent and useful updates and highlights.

Sincerely,

Kimberly Harris

ANY-Illinois Seeks Inaugural Class of Fellows and Mentor Coaches

ANY-Illinois will launch with its first class of Fellows and Mentor Coaches in July 2015!  We are very excited to begin the recruitment process and have already established university partnerships with University of Illinois at Chicago, DePaul University, University of Chicago, and Chicago State University. During a kick-off breakfast on January 28th, America Needs You was introduced to the nonprofit community. All college access programs, charter school networks, and nonprofits focused on supporting low-income and underrepresented students were invited. Mentor Coach recruitment is also under way. The Illinois Young Leadership Board (YLB) will have a kick-off meeting on February 5th to jumpstart the Mentor Coach recruitment process and engage young professionals in Chicago as founding members of the YLB. We appreciate the support of the New York and New Jersey Mentor Coaches who have helped promote America Needs You to their networks in Chicago. Please continue to spread the word!

Macquarie Wins Game Changer Award

Macquarie has been a significant partner to America Needs You by providing critical financial and in-kind support. Recently, the Macquarie Group Foundation approved a sizeable multi-year grant to support ANY's expansion to Chicago. Macquarie volunteers hosted a Career Day for Fellows, provided pro bono training to ANY staff, and raised substantial funds through matching contributions from the Macquarie Group Foundation. The New York Young Leadership Board's Will (Gerald) Demas led a team of Macquarie volunteers to help fundraise for the ANY annual gala. Macquarie created an ANY internship and hired New York Fellow alumnae Casandra and Xhina full-time. We are so grateful for Macquarie's support and look forward to the year ahead.
