ANY Spotlight
Thuong is a 2012 NJNY Fellow Alumna from Rockaway, New Jersey. She recently graduated Summa Cum Laude from Rutgers University-New Brunswick with a degree in accounting. She is currently preparing to take her CPA exam and is looking forward to starting her full-time job as an Auditor at Ernst & Young in September. Thuong is the first of three sisters from her family to join the NJNY community - one Fellow in each of the first three classes! At NJNY's very first workshop, Thuong became the first Fellow to do a public and private victory. She has gained invaluable support and guidance from her Mentor Coach, Will Fotsch.
Mentor Coach Spotlight
Whitney
Whitney Barno is a 2012 NJNY Mentor Coach, and worked with 2012 Fellow Ana. She is an Associate Marketing Manager at Prudential Financial. Whitney has helped NJNY secure a volunteer engagement grant from Prudential and has also helped with Fellow and Mentor Coach recruitment. Whitney spoke on behalf of all Mentor Coaches at the 2012 graduation ceremony, discussing how rewarding NJNY has been to her life. "As much as I have shared with Ana over the past two years," remarked Whitney, "she has taught me how to be courageous and to apply a relentless focus on achieving dreams." Whitney is among four 2012 Mentor Coaches to renew as a 2014 Mentor Coach.

We are opening the summer season with a few events! Last week, Beth and Stephen Dannhauser hosted a small party in their home on our behalf, allowing us to introduce the work we do to a new audience. Stephen is on the America Needs You Advisory Board, and we are grateful that he and his wife have supported us for so long.

Next, we are excited to announce that we will be hosting our first-ever Golf Outing on July 28th at the Brynwood Golf & Country Club in Armonk, NY. Tickets are on sale now! I would like to welcome all of our summer interns: Jeffrey Yu (Executive Office Intern), Maggie Liu (Development and Grant Writing Intern), Maya Drummond (NYNY Program Intern), Aaron Raines (Development Intern) and Stephanie Eng (NJNY Social Media Intern). We are happy to have them on the team and appreciate the contributions they have made so far.
I want to thank Jack Corcoran, Internship and Alumni Coordinator, and Ashley Garner, Program Events Coordinator, for their time at New York Needs You. Jack will be leaving NYNY to join AmeriCorps in Denver, and Ashley will be joining Bridgewater Associates. Jack provided our Fellows and Fellow Alumni with internship and job placement support services, and also planned alumni activities. Ashley managed planning and logistics for workshops and other program-related events. Again, I want to thank them for their significant contributions to the organization. We wish both Jack and Ashley the best in their new roles!

America Needs You Golf Outing
|
Pl ease join us for the America Needs You Golf Outing on Monday, July 28th! The outing will take place at Brynwood Golf & Country Club in Armonk, NY.
Take advantage of our Early Birdie special! Prices are currently $350 for individual tickets and $1350 for foursomes (ticket prices will increase after July 11th). Each ticket includes a boxed lunch, 18 holes of golf, and a cocktail reception.

Oliver Wyman Wins Game Changer Award
|
America Needs You is thrilled to announce Oliver Wyman, a leading global management consulting firm, as the winner of the Game Changer Award, a quarterly award to celebrate corporate supporters who go above and beyond for our program. In April, over 20 representatives from Oliver Wyman volunteered at our industry investigations workshop and worked with Fellows on presentation skills. Additionally, in May, Oliver Wyman hosted a charity auction benefiting our New York Program, which raised over $100,000! We are proud to recognize Oliver Wyman this quarter and excited to grow the partnership going forward!
