NYNY Spotlight
Thalita is a 2012 Fellow. She recently transferred from LaGuardia Community College to New York City College of Technology. Thalita was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and relocated to the United States. In Brazil, she was captivated by the legal system and spent much of her time observing trials. She aspires to be a lawyer, and eventually, a district attorney. Thalita was recently awarded a scholarship from the Jewish Foundation for Education of Women.

Melanie
Melanie Scotto is a 2011 Mentor Coach and is a wonderful support system for her Fellow Matthew A. Melanie is Assistant Special Counsel at the New York State Department of Labor and has been a valuable resource for Fellows interested in law and government. She went the extra mile to help a Fellow secure a great summer internship and led an industry investigation group, bringing an abundance of positive energy to each session. We have chosen Melanie as one of our Industry Ambassadors in our Mentor Coach recruitment efforts for the 2013 class, and we are excited to have her renew her commitment and be our first 2013 Mentor Coach! Our 2013 Fellows application closed on February 15 and we are now in the process of reviewing hundreds of applications! Thank you to our Programs team, Fellow Ambassadors, college and university partners and our volunteers for their efforts during this recruiting cycle. Finalists will be invited to an interview day in April and our 2013 class will be announced in May. For volunteers interested in serving as 2013 Mentor Coaches, the application is now live! We have a number of staffing updates to announce! I want to thank Venessa Mendenhall for her service as Vice President of Programs; we wish her the best in her new endeavors. Marianna Tu, formerly Vice President of Technology and Career Development Programs and a current Mentor Coach, has been promoted to serve as our Chief Program Officer. I am excited to see her lead all of our work in the Fellows Program and Career Development Programs. Marianna will also explore ways to use technology to aid both efforts and reach even more students.
I am also very happy to announce that Pauly Rodney, formerly the Vice President of Strategic Partnerships for both New York and New Jersey, has been promoted to serve as the Executive Director of New Jersey Needs You! Anita Fee Willis has also been promoted from Director of Strategic Partnerships to Vice President of Strategic Partnerships and Allison Duignan has been promoted from Strategic Partnerships Manager to Associate Director of Strategic Partnerships.
Lawrese Brown joins New Jersey Needs You as Program Coordinator after having served as a Career Coach and NJNY YLB member, and Kethia Chheng, Khamal Clayton, Deisy Flores and Lauren Malotra-Gaudet, join us as interns with our Strategic Partnerships, Growth Strategy and Development, Technology and Career Development and Fellows Programs teams, respectively.
We welcome our new additions and look forward to working with all of you to build our movement!

Greater New York Hospital Association Partners with NYNY!

New York Needs You is grateful for its partnership with the Greater New York Hospital Association (GNYHA), a trade association comprising nearly 250 hospitals and continuing care facilities in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Rhode Island. GNYHA is a dynamic, constantly evolving center for health care advocacy and expertise, but its core mission is to help hospitals deliver the finest patient care in the most cost-effective way. GNYHA is an NYNY Catalyst Partner and has hosted two Career Days for NYNY Fellows. NYNY is thankful for the GNYHA professionals who volunteer with us including Mentor Coach Lisa Fishelberg (Class of 2011), Career Coach Amy Osorio, as well as Mary Medina for her dedication to supporting NYNY Fellows.
