M15
New mini CORI-FLOW™
In addition to the previously developed mini CORI-FLOW™ series M12-M14 for ranges from 0.1 g/h up to 30 kg/h, BronkhorstŪ releases the new model M15 for mass flow rates between 0.2 and 300 kg/h.
Similar to the models for lower flow rates, M15 contains a uniquely shaped, single loop sensor tube, forming part of an oscillating system. When a fluid flows through the tube, Coriolis forces cause a variable phase shift, which is detected by sensors and fed into the integrally mounted pc-board. The resulting output signal is strictly proportional to the real mass flow rate.
Like all instruments of the mini CORI-FLOW™ series the M15 features density and temperature of the fluid as secondary outputs. Furthermore the instruments offer "multi-range" functionality: factory calibrated ranges can be rescaled by the user, maintaining the original accuracy specs. As a result of this, customers are able to reduce the variety of instruments and thus reduce the cost of ownership. The instruments are equipped with a robust IP65 weatherproof housing.
Mini CORI-FLOW™ instruments can be applied for both gases and liquids in process fluid measurement or control systems in (petro-) chemical and pharmaceutical industries, food & beverage applications, and liquid dosing systems in a wide variety of markets.

Itty Bitty Flow
Micro-Reactor Technology
Micro reactors are continuous reactors with extremely small physical size. These configurations are used to enhance the surface-to-volume ratio hence to improve heat transfer and increase selectivity.
Such sizes are suitable for pilot scale reactions but this solution can be transposed to production scale capacity as well by combining multiple reactors operating parallel to each other.
Due to its features these alternative reactors are very convenient, because a superior control and optimal use of reagents is achieved. Since all the process takes place in a closed system, toxic, hazardous or explosive chemicals can be used without raising severe safety and environmental issues.
Given that the micro reactors have exceptionally small sizes, extremely subtle flows are involved, thus to achieve an optimal process, appropriate peripheral flow controllers and dosing systems will be required. One of the solutions developed by Bronkhorst involves the use of our unique flow sensor of the mini CORI-FLOW™ series with controlling function, a gear pump, a filter, a check valve and all interconnecting material. The advantage of this setup is the possibility to have a stable and accurate liquid flow without gas bubbles. Additionally, the system is suitable for several dissimilar liquids due to the Coriolis measuring principle.
The attained results have been highly satisfactory and superior to the results found in ordinary systems; hence this solution is being embraced by chemists who need to focus on micro-reactions.

Good to Know
Zeroing a Coriolis Instrument
Open the box, remove, install, and electrically connect the instrument, start the flow expecting to have accurate reading and control and...what's this? It's not working!
Proper installation and start up of a Coriolis instrument includes zeroing the meter before usage. Zeroing the meter, with the unit full of fluid and a no flow condition, allows the meter to "know" the zero point.
Due to mechanical construction of the sensor tubes each Coriolis sensor will have a very small offset signal, even when the mass flow is zero. This is called the zero-stability error and is specified for accuracy separately for all Coriolis instruments. This error can be neutralized after performing a zeroing procedure.
Each time process conditions have been changed significantly a Coriolis instrument needs to be zeroed in order to get rid of the offset error due to zero-stability. At the very least the first time an instrument is used a zero procedure will be required.
In short, for proper measurement with a Coriolis instrument you must zero the instrument.
