Your Ballots are Due by December 31!
You are running out of time to turn in your Section ballot! Ballots must be in the Section office by December 31. Any ballots received after this date will not be counted.
Shape the future of our Section by voting for: Oregon/Idaho Trustee - Todd Heidgerken and Brian Murphy; Washington Trustee - Cheryl Capron, John Roth and Ray West; Trustee At-Large - Lacey Goeres, Corie Peterson and Stephanie Raddatz; and Chair-Elect - Jason Canady, Laurie Fulton and John Wiskus.
Ballot Correction: The Education/Awards portion of Oregon/Idaho Trustee candidate Todd Heidgerken's bio on the ballot is incorrect. It should read:
"I have a degree in Agricultural and Resource Economics from Oregon State University. My initial work in the water sector started in 1993 while working for a non-profit organization that represented farmers and ranchers on water issues. This work at the "grass roots" level provided me with useful background on water resources, their use and value to different interests. This experience has enabled me to be a thoughtful spokesperson for my utility and other water providers, since 1999 when my focus shifted to drinking water issues. I was pleased to be recognized by the Oregon Office of Environmental Public Health for "Outstanding Leadership in Support of Safe Drinking Water". I have also completed the Pacific Program for State and Local Government Executives."
His bio is correct in the Fall Edition of Water Matters.
Ballots will be counted January 11 and results announced at the Winter Trustee Meeting, February 8. |

Water Loss Control Focus Group Looking for Members!
AWWA has a national Water Loss Control Committee which focuses its many educational efforts on encouraging water systems to prepare an annual compilation of water loss using a standard, best practice water audit for efficient water operations.
Our Section would like to start a Water Loss Control Focus Group to meet the various regulations on water loss that are already in place in our three states. If you are an interested water purveyor, regulator, equipment manufacturer, engineer or service provider you are welcome to join the WLC Focus Group. Contact Patti Godwin for more information.
The group's first meeting is scheduled to take place at the 2013 Section Conference in Spokane! Topics discussed will include non-revenue water loss, apparent and real losses, the free AWWA Water Audit Software and more. |

Young Professional Membership Drive
The Young Professional and Membership committees have challenged the Section in what is being called:
"The 12 days of Christmas Drive"
They are asking all subsections to bring Christmas joy to a new Young Professional member by enrolling them in AWWA! Young Professionals are considered to be anyone working in the industry under the age of 35 or having less than 10 years in the water profession.
Young Professionals in our association benefit us all. YP's get opportunities to work with other professionals, learn from their experiences and take on leadership roles.
To feel the Christmas Spirit, all subsections are being asked to recruit or sponsor one Young Professional by December 25th. The cost is only $99 and is as easy as visiting the AWWA website and using the discount code: YP2012.
Questions contact Jennifer Garbely. |
