The Future of the Wadleigh Library
The Board of Library Trustees have spent the last several years working towards the best, most cost effective plan to provide library services and address the needs of the community going forward. We are confident we have such a plan in the project we're proposing for the future library.
Last year, the project appeared on the ballot for the first time and it received 43% of the 60% votes needed in order for us to proceed. We were exceedingly encouraged by such a positive response for the first time on a ballot but that said, we were surprised to receive many comments from residents who didn't realize a vote was needed in order for us to break ground.
The plan we're proposing - and placing on the ballot again on March 8 - is the least expensive of the plans we considered; it's the smallest, most efficient, flexible and creative use of space; and in terms of square footage per capita, it brings our busy library up to the state's average size per capita (the Wadleigh is currently 57% smaller than the average NH public library).
We hope you will take a moment to view the background information about the project Building Project which can be found here, attend the upcoming Open House to ask questions of the Board of Trustees and most importantly: to support the library project by voting on Tuesday, March 8. |
 Sunday, February 21 3 - 5 p.m.
For the past several years, the Library Board of Trustees & staff have been working diligently to plan for the future of our community's library.
We invite Milford residents to attend our 5th Open House and get a behind the scenes tour of the current building with our Facilities Manager. The Library Director and Trustees will also be on hand to answer questions about the current building and the future project we're proposing for the most heavily trafficked town facility outside of the schools.
For background information about the building project, see www.wadleighlibrary.org/building.
Snow date: Sunday, March 6 from 3-5 p.m.

The hours will be the same each week:
Tuesdays - 9:30am to 2:00pm

The Wadleigh Library is an official Tax Form Repository. We will provide forms as we receive them from the federal and state government. Forms can also be printed from the IRS website at www.irs.gov.
Since 1968, AARP Tax-Aide volunteers have helped nearly 50 million low- to middle-income taxpayers, many of whom are aged 60 or older. Tax-Aide volunteers (IRS Certified) are trained to assist with filing the 1040 Form and the more standard of the schedules, including Schedules A and B. Electronic filing (e-filing) is offered at the Wadleigh Memorial Library site, with no charge to the taxpayer. E-filing ensures more accurate tax returns and faster processing of tax refunds. |
 Wednesday, February 3 OR Wednesday, February 10 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.
In the last five years, Doug Wright has noticed a dramatic increase in people asking him when they should take Social Security. The decisions are more complex than you might think and will have an impact over what you will receive for the rest of your life. There are 2,728 rules and 567 ways to claim benefits. The wrong decision can cost you $100,000 or more in lost Social Security benefits. Come hear Doug Wright speak about Social Security, and ask him questions about your own situation. There are now more dramatic changes proposed for social security for 2016.
Doug Wright has been helping folks prepare for retirement for over 12 years. He is a Fiduciary and holds the designation of Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor. He specializes in educating people on social security and understanding all the filing strategies. Doug speaks throughout New Hampshire on social security and other retirement concerns. He offers a no-cost or obligation workshop to learn more.
Look for Doug Wright's workshops on Retirement Planning at the Library on March 23rd and March 29th.

First in the Nation Celebrating 100 Years of the Presidential Primary
 Wednesday, February 17 6:30 p.m.
With the 2016 presidential election is approaching, New Hampshire is front and center as the home of the first-in-the-nation primary. Neil Levesque, Executive Director of the New Hampshire Institute of Politics, has been prominently featured in television specials and quoted in articles as an expert on the New Hampshire presidential primary. First held on March 14, 1916, laws were changed in 1949 to make the primary a way to directly select candidates rather than delegates, and thereby increase voter turnout. In the decades since this change, the New Hampshire primary has become a cornerstone of presidential elections. Join us for Mr. Levesque's engaging and fascinating talk on the history and significance of the NH primary and get the inside scoop on the issues and personalities in the current race for the White House.
This event will be held at the Milford Town Hall. Please use the entrance on Middle Street and take the elevator to the 3rd floor.
