From the Director's Desk It's been a few weeks since Election Day and the library staff and Board of Trustees would like to thank everyone who showed support for the library building project. Whether you attended the Deliberative Session; served on the Facilities Committee; wrote a Letter to the Editor; put a yard sign in front of your house; volunteered at the polls; talked to friends and neighbors about the importance of the project -- as well as getting to the polls and voting for it; or voiced encouragement and kind words both leading up to the election and in the days that followed...we are exceedingly grateful.
There are slightly more than 9900 registered voters in Milford and 2,192 (22%) showed up at the polls and cast their votes. While that might seem like a low number, it's actually a 24% increase from last year. When the votes were counted, the building project did not meet the 60% majority needed to pass, but it did receive a healthy 44% of the votes cast. In other words, we got our message across to two-thirds of all the community members we needed to get the building project passed. For the first time on the ballot, we are very encouraged by those numbers!
We will be regrouping in the coming weeks in order to plan our strategy moving forward but in the meantime, thank you again to everyone who has backed this project to date and helped move it forward. We'll be counting on you for 2016!

Acoustic Cafe presents Off the Cuff Saturday, April 18 Doors Open @ 7 PM - Performance @ 7:30PM dmission is Free!
Off The Cuff has been delighting audiences across southern New Hampshire and surrounding areas for over a decade. Incorporating elements of jazz, swing, blues, bluegrass, rock, folk and world music styles, Off The Cuff infuses its own special blend of vocal and instrumental harmony into every song to reinvent it as something new and personal. Once this is done, the song is "Cuffed" - given that Off The Cuff touch.
Audiences love this music! Whether an original tune or an old standard, a pop tune or a nugget by some little known songwriter, the music touches a familiar chord in everyone, whether they grew up dancing to the big bands or to rock bands. It is music that each generation has managed to share; a part of the American musical soul. The music is upbeat, energetic and fun, and The Cuffers have a great time playing and interacting with the audience.
In October, 2008 Off The Cuff released its first CD, "Cuffed... At Last!" Recorded live at the Caleidh House in Westmoreland, NH, the CD contains 14 songs covering a broad range of styles that highlight the diversity and variety of an Off The Cuff performance.

Autism is one of a few Pervasive Developmental Disorders. We believe that autism is not a defect nor does it stem from a lack of brain power, but rather the person is overwhelmed by more brain power than he can manage in the chaos of un-orientation. The Davis Autism Approach Program starts with the challenge of helping the individual to complete that stage of development that was interrupted between birth and age three; he then learns through an organized series of conceptual lessons, over the course of weeks, what the neurotypical toddler assimilated in a matter of years. Come and learn more about the Davis Autism Approach, a gentle, non-invasive program that gives the autistic individual the tools to participate fully in life. Sponsored by Creative Learning Solutions.
