AARP Tax Aide February 3 to April 14
Tuesdays - 9:30am to 2:00pm Thursdays - 3:30pm-6:30pm
Free Tax help will be available at the Wadleigh Library from February 3rd to April 14th. Appointments are not required. The Wadleigh Library is an official Tax Form Repository. We will provide forms as we receive them from the federal and state government. The IRS has recently notified the Library that they will NOT be able to provide paper copies of instruction booklets and most tax forms, due to a large budget cut. We will have the following forms available: - Forms 1040, 1040A and 1040EZ
Since 1968, AARP Tax-Aide volunteers have helped nearly 50 million low- to middle-income taxpayers, many of whom are aged 60 or older. Tax-Aide volunteers (IRS Certified) are trained to assist with filing the 1040 Form and the more standard of the schedules, including Schedules A and B. Electronic filing (e-filing) is offered at the Wadleigh Memorial Library site, with no charge to the taxpayer. E-filing ensures more accurate tax returns and faster processing of tax refunds.

Frances Drake: Resolve and Rescue
Tuesday, February 10 6:30 p.m.
Until recently forgotten and obscure, Frances Drake was a courageous fighter for the cause to end to slavery. Even more unsettling to many of her Leominster, Massachusetts contemporaries, was her ardent stand for gender equality. Not only did Mrs. Drake welcome to her home some of the most famous abolitionists, but she helped free the first fugitive captured in New England under the new fugitive slave law of 1850. Why then has she been largely ignored for nearly a century while her hometown celebrates the folklore of Johnny Appleseed? Come and learn how these two very different stories were developed and communicated through the years. Author and historian Mark Bodanza will present. This program is part of Freedom's Way National Heritage Area's "Author Conversation" series. Visit freedomsway.org to learn about upcoming programs and events.

For those children who cannot yet read on their own, parents & caregivers are invited to read with their children. In order to guarantee your spot, you must register for each session.
Registered children should arrive during the advertised time span and will read to the dog of their choice for approximately 15-20 minutes.
