Retirement Reception Friday, January 9 3 - 5 p.m.
All are invited to a drop-in reception to celebrate Judy Hohenadel's 25 years of dedicated service at the Wadleigh Library. Judy recently announced her retirement effective December 31. She was first hired as a part time Library Page and eventually was brought on full time as a Library Assistant. Since then Judy has worked in both the Circulation and Technical Services departments. Over the years she's greeted many visitors at the Circulation Desk; processed and cataloged thousands of books, DVDs and music CDs to get them ready for library shelves; and checked out those same items to eager patrons. Please join us in wishing Judy well as she starts the next chapter of her life.

Open House: The Future of the Wadleigh Memorial Library Sunday, January 25 3 - 5 p.m. For the past several years, the Library Board of Trustees & staff have been working diligently to plan for the future of our community's library. We invite Milford residents to attend our third in a series of Open Houses and get a behind the scenes tour of the current building with our Facilities Manager; meet the architect who took a list of needs from the staff, trustees and community focus groups and designed a structure and floor plans within our guidelines; and most importantly, ask whatever questions that may be on your minds about the current building and future of the most heavily used town facility outside of our schools. More information about the Library's Building Project can be found here.

Paws to Read
Saturday, January 10
10:30 - 12 noon
Read to a DOG? Not just any dog....
Certified Therapy Pets are a wonderful way to encourage reluctant readers and children having difficulties with reading to become more confident in their ability to read.
The use of Therapy Pets in hospitals, rehabilitation centers and nursing homes has been shown to decrease anxiety, lower blood pressure and promote relaxation; the same premise applies to children with reading difficulties.
For those children who cannot yet read on their own, parents & caregivers are invited to read with their children. In order to guarantee your spot, you must register for each session.
Registered children should arrive during the advertised time span and will read to the dog of their choice for approximately 15-20 minutes.
Check our online calendar for upcoming dates & times.

This group is for students in grades 2 and 3 only. Please note that, in order to help me to plan materials and snacks, you will need to register them for each session that they can attend.
