Summer Reading

June 23 - August 10 

Grown-ups look forward to summer as much as kids do and Summer Reading Clubs are not just for kids any more.

 

Join our Adult Summer Reading Club at the Wadleigh Memorial Library. Beginning Monday, June 23, 2014, you may sign up at the Main Desk with name and phone number or email address. 

 

Read a book, fill out a raffle ticket (two if you include a short book review) and enter as often as you like. Drawings for prizes will be held periodically during the summer. 

 

The program ends on August 10, 2014 and the grand prize is a Kindle.

Discounted Movie Tickets 

Get discounted tickets to Chunky's Cinema and Pub. Buy them at the library for $5.50 each or 10 for $50. These tickets are regularly $7.50.

 

Stock up now for a rainy day! Proceeds of the ticket sales will benefit the Friends of the Wadleigh Library.

Taking Your Driver's Test Soon? 

 

Milford residents now have access to practice tests for the DMV test! http://wml.driving-tests.org/new-hampshire

 

You can also get to other practice tests and study materials for almost any test you might need to take: GED, SAT, AP, GRE, GMAT, LSAT, and more via the Learning Express Library.

 

You will need your library barcode and PIN to access our databases from home. Call us or drop in for more info.

Reminder: The Wadleigh Library will be closed Friday, July 4 and Saturday, July 5 for the Independence Day holiday weekend. We will re-open on Monday, July 7 at 9:30 a.m.

Teen patrons from the Milford High School & Applied Technology Center volunteer their time and offer tech support services to other library users.

Spanish Conversation Group

Do you want to practice your Spanish? Here's your opportunity with this drop-in group. Join Sandra Pleisch to brush up on your Spanish language skills or to have a chance to use your Spanish. If you have an interest in using the Spanish language, you're just the person we're looking for, so come on over!

Learn the basics of Social Networking, using Twitter, Facebook, Linked In and other social networking sites.

Do you want to help decide which books the library buys for the teen section?  Maybe you have an idea for a club or event? 

 

Join Katie on the 1st Thursday each month to discuss books, manga, comic books, etc.  You'll have a chance to read reviews of upcoming books and offer suggestions.  Oh, and there will be cookies!

Pendulum Painting

Pizza & Pages

This month we're doing something a little different. We're celebrating all the books we've read since Pizza & Pages started 4 years ago by watching the movie of one of our recent book club selections, Ender's Game. We'll also be making our own pizzas!

 

If you aren't a member of the book club but you've read the book, you are welcome to join us!

 

This movie is rated PG-13 for some violence, sci-fi action and thematic material.  Please make sure it is okay with your parents to watch this movie.

 

Pizza & Pages is for grades 6 & up.
