Summer Reading

Register for Summer Reading for all ages at the Library. Raffle prizes will be drawn each week of the summer for Children, Teens, and Adults. Each entry will be entered in our Grand Prize Drawings for each group at the end of the summer.

The Wadleigh Memorial Library will be closed Sundays during the summer.

 

The Library will also be  

closed on Thursday, July 4.
We will be open our regular hours on Friday, July 5 and Saturday, July 6.

New Hampshire Bats and
White Nose Syndrome

Bats have been in the news lately. Are you wondering what's up with bats in New Hampshire? This talk will give you an overview of the different kinds of bats found in 

our state, where to look for them, and how landowners and homeowners can help conserve these fascinating mammals. You'll also learn about the impact of white-nose syndrome on our bats in New Hampshire, what scientists are learning about this threat, and how you can help.

 

Our presenter is Beth Penney, volunteer with the Speaking For Wildlife Program at the UNH Cooperative Extension Service.

 

This program is part of the Adult Summer Reading Series Groundbreaking Reads.

Are you looking for other yarn addicts? Do your Monday nights seem dull? Look no further! Don't have a project in mind? Can't seem to finish that scarf for Grandma? Or are you a complete beginner with an itch to stitch? Bring your project in & be inspired; if you're a beginner, your local craft store can help you select a project & requisite supplies. There will be no formal instruction but 'knitwits' are a helpful bunch and love to indoctrinate the uninitiated into the cult of knitting.

Please include the title(s) of your favorite books when you register!

Come learn all about water colors from the amazing Kristine Brock.  She will be teaching us how to create beautiful pictures of our favorite underground animals.  Feel free to bring in a picture of your underground animal of choice!  Registration is required.  This program is for ages 8 and up.

Craft Day 

Wednesday, July 3
9 - 5:30 p.m.

Drop by the Children's Room at any point today and make some very patriotic crafts!  All ages are welcome and there is no registration needed!

Book Bingo

Monday, July 8
6 - 7 p.m.

We will once again be trying our luck at winning some books with this amazing event.  We'll play several rounds, so everyone has a good chance of getting something new to read this summer!  Registration is needed.  All ages welcome.

Gnome Sculpting & Painting

Wednesday, July 10
10 - 11 a.m.

We will be creating gnomes out of clay and then painting these creations any way we want!  Registration is required.  All ages welcome.

 

Stuffed Animal Sleepover

Monday, July 15
7 - 8 p.m.

Bring a stuffed friend whom you don't mind parting with for the night, jump into your PJs and head on over to the library.  We will be reading some bedtime stories, singing a few songs, eating a bedtime snack and then tucking our friends in for the night.  Make sure to come back the next morning to collect your friend!  Registration is required.  All ages welcome.

Critters n' Creatures

Wednesday, July 17

4:30 p.m. OR 5:30 p.m.

We will be having some visitors at the library today!  Mona from Critters n' Creatures in Merrimack, NH will be bringing over some underground friends for us to meet!  Learn all about animals who tunnel and burrow in this fun presentation. 
Registration is required.  Ages 4 and up recommended.   
  

Pirate Treasure Hunt

Monday, July 22 

1 - 2 p.m.

Arrr me mateys!  Join us for a fun filled treasure hunt around the library.  Discover clues that will lead you to a buried treasure, and enjoy splitting up the booty pirate style. 

Registration is required.  All ages welcome.     

Dinosaur Dig

Wednesday, July 24 

10 - 11 a.m.

Prepare to get a little messy in our dinosaur dig!  We will be providing tools and blocks of ice with rare dinosaur bones and other wonders hidden within.  All you need to do is dig them out!

Archeology Adventure

Monday, July 29 

6 - 7 p.m.

Come to the Children's Room for some adventures with archeology.  Mummies, hieroglyphics and ancient civilizations will be explored this evening.  All ages welcome. 

Pizza and a Movie

Wednesday, July 31 

6 - 8 p.m.

We will be screening a fabulous movie this night, involving garden gnomes and Shakespeare, with maybe a bit of Elton John on the side.  Along with the movie there will be pizza to help complete the experience.
Registration is required.  All ages welcome.
