Headfort Bridge
In our last newsletter we were happy to report planned repairs to the damage on Headfort Bridge (see below)

Unfortunately the extent of the remedial work was a wooden barrier (see below). Our inquiries into the matter found that the Bridge may remain in this state until the middle of next year. It has been suggested that this barrier could at least be a good spot for a mural. What would you like to see painted? Comments to info@kellsonline.ie

Elsewhere in Kells it was better news as the Bridge at Oakley park was repaired to an extremely high standard. We would like to congratulate Barry Mathers, Adrian Barry and all at Jons Civil Engineering on their workmanship.

Kells Round Tower about to Fall?
Kellsonline.ie has recieved a number of concernd emails recently about the safety of the Round Tower. Photos certainly show a number of holes appearing at the top of the tower and weeds growing between the stone work.
Kellsonline.ie is currently looking into who is responsible for the upkeep of the tower.

Kells Heritage Park
The invitation to tender for the plan for the Kells Heritage Park is now up on e-tenders. The deadline for submissions 21st December.
The Tourism Forum have begun work to get Coach Tours of County Meath started in 2013, including a lunchtime stop Kells.
CoachParking in Kells
Kellsonline.ie asks the question, how can we expect tourist to stop in Kells whens there's no parking for their coaches? All coach tours can do for Kells at the moment is wave at us on their way through the town.
Kells Courthouse to close.
Lets not get confused about which courthouse! The building at Headfort Place which was formerly the Courthouse, then the Badminton Court, then the Heritage Center, then the Book of Kells Centre and is now referred to as "The Old Courthouse" is still closed but we are talking about the "new" Courthouse on Bective street which is now set to close too. While the court certainly brought business to the town which will be missed, perhaps it's closure will also mean less negative headlines Kells ? Comments to info@kellsonline.ie
Protect our Crosses
What do Tutankhamun's Tomb and the crosses of Kells have in common? Both could be destroyed in the next few years without intervention. One due to flooding the other due to pollution and erosion. Comments to info@kellsonline.ie
Oil Tank Warning
There has been a spate of robberies from oil tanks in recent weeks. We recommend that you keep the area around your tank lit so you and your neighbors can spot suspicious activity. This can be as simple as leaving your back door light on at night
If you want added security, there are sensor light and remote alarm solutions. contac Kells Electrical Services on 046 9241284 to discuss what options are availble to you.
