As part of The CASTLE

(Clairton's After-School Teaching & Learning Experience) students in 5th through 8th grade became writers, producers, directors and performers, camera crew and sound technicians for music videos created with the help of Hip Hop on L.O.C.K. (HHOL) one of eight community partners collaborating with The Consortium on activities for the program. The brainchild of Emmai Alaquiva, an East Liberty native who credits hip-hop with saving him from the streets, HHOL simulates the work of music production companies to help students sharpen academic abilities, build technical competencies and develop soft skills, from communication to collaboration.
