Transportation, Trucking and IEDC
The top markets for the transportation and warehousing sector

Transportation, trucking and IEDC. It's an odd title for a white paper. But if you're headed to the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) Annual Conference in Cleveland next week, you'll hear me on a panel talking about the transportation criteria that location consultants use when evaluating regions. Our research director, Cyndi Dancy, has done a great job in analyzing each metro in its concentration of the transportation and warehousing sectors, and also showing the highest concentration of much sought after truck drivers. There's a reason why trucking companies fill the radio airwaves trying to recruit truckers.
 
The Transportation panel is scheduled for Wednesday, September 28 at 9:15 am. Immediately after this panel, I'll be serving on another panel with 13 additional site location consultants beginning at 11 am, which will close out the Conference. I look forward to seeing you in Cleveland or wherever our paths will cross.

  
TAFCO Invests in New Manufacturing Plant in Clearfield, PA
Site was recently certified by the Primus/Garner Food Site Certification process
Congratulations to Rob Swales, CEO of Clearly Ahead in Clearfield County, PA, for the announcement of TAFCO in the recently completed Primus/Garner Certified Food Site in the county's Commerce Park. The new 100,000 sq. ft facility on 11 acres will produce walk-in coolers, walk-in freezers, and other commercial refrigeration products for the food and beverage industry, employing over 80 people. TAFCO is a leading supplier of refrigeration products for large warehouses, pharmaceutical applications, universities, government, and military applications.
 
According to Swales, "A major factor in TAFCO's site selection process was the fact that Commerce Park is recognized by Garner Economics and Primus Builders as a certified food site. By having a comprehensive real estate data package immediately available for the company, it reduced the risk and uncertainty related to this capital intensive project. With the support of the certified food site recognition, we were extremely pleased TAFCO's site selection process proved that Commerce Park was the optimal fit.
