Curriculum Committee - Join Us!

All of the activities offered by OLLI are organized by committees of volunteers who do the work to bring the programs to life.

We invite you to attend the following OLLI Curriculum Committee meetings to provide insight about your past class experiences and to help us create a slate of courses for the upcoming season.  Each of our volunteers - like you - brings a unique personal network of people and organizations that can help create the activities that OLLI offers its members.

*Wednesdays, May 11, 18, and June 1 at 9:00 a.m.
*Please use the Visitor's Lot on May 11; parking is open on campus after May 16

*Michel Student Center, Executive Suite (downstairs)

*At the May 11 meeting, we will "wrap up" the Winter and Spring classes and discuss our experiences so needed improvements can be made for Fall.  We will also brainstorm ideas for Fall classes, and contribute ideas for possible instructors for those classes.

*Between the last two meetings, volunteers will recruit qualified instructors for classes, construct class descriptions, and assist those instructors to submit a class worksheet by the June 3 deadline.

For more information, please call the Continuing Education office at (309) 677-3900.

We look forward to seeing you at the OLLI Curriculum Committee meetings!

View Ken Burns' NEH Lecture 'Race in America'
The Jefferson Lecture in the Humanities, established by the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) in 1972, is the highest honor the federal government confers for distinguished intellectual achievement in the humanities.

Ken Burns, a 14-time Emmy and two-time Grammy award winning filmmaker, delivered the Jefferson Lecture on May 9 and discussed "Race in America," a topic he has illuminated and confronted through his nearly 40 years of directing and producing acclaimed historical documentaries.

Members of OLLI at Bradley are invited to stream the archived video of last evening's lecture through the following link: http://live.neh.gov/
** Please note that the webpage linked above will display the recorded lecture when it is available.

OLLI thanks the National Resource Center for Lifelong Learning Institutes at Northwestern University for providing information about this event.

Peace for Peoria

Peace for Peoria will host a Q&A at the Peoria Civic Center Theater on Monday, May 16 from 7:00-8:30 p.m. A panel of local civic, business, and religious leaders will answer questions from attendees about Islam and Muslims in an effort to promote peace and understanding through education.

Peace for Peoria is an interfaith alliance dedicated to fighting fear by opening doors and hearts, bringing people of diverse faiths together in opposition to irrational fear of Islam and Muslims, building loving relationships rooted in the traditions of each faith without denying their differences, and fellowshipping with the entire city of Peoria.
