Join in on the Fun at the OLLI Trivia Night Fundraiser!

 

Join your OLLI friends for a fun night of trivia, emceed by WMBD 1470-AM radio personalities Dan DiOrio and Greg Batton.

You may sign up as an individual or couple and we'll place you at a table, or if you already have a group of 8 in mind, you can sign up as a ready-made team.

Here's how it works: teams of 8 compete in 8 rounds of questions, with each round pertaining to one of the following categories: Music and Entertainment, History and Political Science, Community Awareness, Literature, Topical/Pop Culture, Religion and Philosophy, STEM, and Bradley University/OLLI History.

No prior trivia knowledge needed!  Just sign up to support OLLI on this fun, relaxing and entertaining evening.  Proceeds will be used to build funds to help OLLI continue its tradition of unique, high quality, engaging, and educational programming.

Cost : $45 per person includes heavy hors d'oeuvres, coffee, tea and water and a spot at a table of 8 to compete on a trivia team. $360 for a table of 8.

Trivia Teaser #7

In anticipation of OLLI's Trivia Night Fundraiser on Friday, August 28, we will be awarding weekly prizes to the winning answers for Trivia Teaser sample questions!  

For the first seven weeks, the winners will choose from an OLLI T-Shirt (size XL or XXL), and OLLI Tote Bag or Grocery Bag.  For the final three weeks leading up to the fundraiser, each winner will receive a "Correct Answer Pass" that their team can use for an automatic correct answer at the Trivia Night Fundraiser!

 

How to Play:
1. Read the Trivia Teaser question below.

2. Email your answer to Elly at eepeterson@bradley.edu BEFORE 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 6.  Please make sure the subject line of your email is titled as follows: Trivia Teaser 7
**Please note-- One entry per person per week.  

3. Each winner will be randomly selected.  The winner will be notified via email by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.

4. Check back the following week-- you can play as many times as you'd like!

Don't Miss This Year's Summer Social!
 
The OLLI Summer Social is a great way to catch up with old friends and make some new ones.  Join us at this year's Summer Social Aboard the Spirit of Peoria in August! 

We will enjoy the scenic views of the Illinois River from the Spirit of Peoria, dine on a hot lunch, and spend time in the company of good friends.  We will also be treated to a private presentation about World War II B-24 bomber, Lady Be Good, as presented by Don Samford, retired history teacher and president-elect of the Peoria Area World Affairs Council Board of Directors.

Peoria Civic Center (Activity Level 2)
Monday, August 10
8:45 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

The Peoria Civic Center hosts over 375 events each year and attracts more than 750,000 visitors annually.  During this tour, we will visit each part of the largest convention facility in Illinois outside of Chicago, including the Great Hall, Ballroom, Lexus Club, Arena, Theater, and Exhibit Hall.  Staff will also discuss the logistics (booking, marketing, and operation) involved for events, which include concerts, basketball and hockey games, conventions, and even rodeos.

$25 - includes lunch, gratuities, tour, and shuttle transportation


Peoria County Coroner's Office (Activity Level 1)
Thursday, August 20
11:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

On this day, we'll meet Peoria County Coroner Johnna Ingersoll, an elected official charged with investigating sudden, unusual, and traumatic deaths and assuring those bodies are examined, identified, and, if necessary, autopsied.  Our visit is expected to include an observation of a jury inquest,which is held weekly to determine the manner of some deaths occurring in Peoria County.  We may also have and opportunity to see the on-site autopsy room and morgue.

$25 - includes lunch, gratuities, tour, and shuttle transportation

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI)
 is an organization at Bradley University whose members share a common goal:  to remain vital and active in their late career and post-career lives.

Consisting of nearly 1,100 people ages 50+, OLLI members come from all backgrounds and educational levels.  Together they enjoy a diverse collection of year-round programs including non-credit classes, educational travel, study groups, cinema, and lectures.
