OLLI Fall Registration Improvements Coming
 
Many members asked to receive the OLLI brochure earlier - and we listened!

Watch your mailbox after July 23, take time to review our offerings, then choose your way to register, beginning July 29:

1. Wednesday, July 29, 9:00 - 11:00 a.m.:  Attend the OLLI Registration Open House in the Michel Student Center Ballroom A with free, open parking on campus.  During this time, you'll have the chance to interact one-on-one with staff, enjoy delicious scones, and spend time with your friends (or meet some new ones).  Registration forms received at the Open House will be processed first.

2. Wednesday, July 29, 2:00 p.m.:  Starting at 2:00 p.m., visit OLLI's webpage (bradley.edu/olli) and make your selections online.  Online registration is fast, easy, and gives you immediate confirmation of your selections.  You can continue to register online throughout the season!

3.  Wednesday, July 29, 2:00 p.m.:  Staff will begin to process registration forms received via the postal service.  You may mail your form at any time, but it will be queued and processed in the order received.

4.  Thursday, July 30, 9:00 a.m.:  Staff will be available to answer registration questions over the phone on this date.  If you need further information about your registration form, or have questions about a particular program described in the brochure, please call (309) 677-3900 on this date.

Trivia Teaser #4

In anticipation of OLLI's Trivia Night Fundraiser on Friday, August 28, we will be awarding weekly prizes to the winning answers for Trivia Teaser sample questions!  

For the first seven weeks, the winners will choose from an OLLI T-Shirt (size XL or XXL), and OLLI Tote Bag or Grocery Bag.  For the final three weeks leading up to the fundraiser, each winner will receive a "Correct Answer Pass" that their team can use for an automatic correct answer at the Trivia Night Fundraiser!

 

How to Play:
1. Read the Trivia Teaser question below.

2. Email your answer to Elly at eepeterson@bradley.edu BEFORE 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 16.  Please make sure the subject line of your email is titled as follows: Trivia Teaser 4
**Please note-- One entry per person per week.  

3. Each winner will be randomly selected.  The winner will be notified via email by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.

4. Check back the following week-- you can play as many times as you'd like!


Trivia Teaser 4: In 1940, the campaign slogan of the Republican Presidential candidate was "Win with ____."  Fill in the blank.

Fossil Dig - Spaces Available on Rescheduled Trip!
 
If you didn't register for the Fossil Dig Learning Trip, you haven't missed your chance!  Due to rain, this trip was rescheduled from its original date, and there are still plenty of spaces available on the new date below.

7:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Professor Ed Stermer of Illinois Central College is back by popular demand for another fascinating day of hands-on geology.  We'll start with a two-mile hike at Rock Creek Canyon Trail at Kankakee River State Park and explore the limestone cliffs and waterfalls that provide evidence of the shallow tropical sea that once covered Illinois 400 million years ago.  After lunch, we'll visit the Mazonia-Braidwood State Fish and Wildlife Area to explore the world-famous Mazon Creek fossil beds.  This geologic unique locality was formed 300 million years ago when northeastern Illinois was a tropical swamp.  Dress for a dog, and be ready to have your treasures discussed by Professor Stermer!

$75 - includes presentation, lunch, gratuities, snacks, and charter coach transportation

Renewing Peoria from the Ground Level Up
Tuesdays, July 21 - August 25

United Presbyterian Church

Peoria is filled with dedicated residents who care deeply about the state of their community.  If you are interested in learning more about various organizations designed to generate progress in Peoria, then this group is for you. 

Presenters from a variety of local programs will facilitate discussions about how those programs work to benefit our community.

Organizations that will be represented include:

- The Dream Center
- United Way 
- Southside Mission
- Jesse's House
- The Society of St. Vincent de Paul
- Common Place
- First Baptist Church Spanish Language GED Preparation

Handouts with additional information about these organizations will be provided.

$45 - facilitated by Carol May, OLLI Cinema Committee Chair, former Study Group Chair, and frequent Study Group facilitator and class instructor

"Victory in Europe: Battle Sites in Northern France and Holland"

The Peoria Area World Affairs Council presents "Victory in Europe: Battle Sites in Northern France and Holland," with Don Samford, president-elect of the Peoria Area World Affairs Council Board of Directors and retired Eureka High School teacher.

This dynamic travelogue event is informal and free of charge for Peoria Area World Affairs Council members, students, and the public.  The lecture will begin at 7:00 p.m., but those wishing to enjoy a meal are encouraged to arrive by 5:15 p.m. to place an order from a menu developed for this event.  All meal costs are the responsibility of the attendees on the night of the event.

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI)
 is an organization at Bradley University whose members share a common goal:  to remain vital and active in their late career and post-career lives.

Consisting of more than 1,000 nearly 1,100 people ages 50+, OLLI members come from all backgrounds and educational levels.  Together they enjoy a diverse collection of year-round programs including non-credit classes, educational travel, study groups, cinema, and lectures.
