This Wednesday, March 4...
Come Learn About Peoria's Flourishing Arts Scene

The Midwest is often erroneously scorned as the cultural wasteland- sometimes referred to "flyover country." Peoria, however, represents a vibrant arts destination that may not be well-known to everyone. A vibrant arts destination for all forms of the arts - visual arts (more than 200 artists work here), theatre, music, literary arts (the Illinois Poet Laureate lives here), dance, architecture, and more - exists here, now.

A few years ago, one of our speakers,  Kathy Chitwood, along with Suzette Boulias, challenged the then-new President of the National Endowment for the Arts to experience Peoria arts for one day. He accepted, and his experience left him deeply impressed and a friend of Peoria. Join us as our speakers Sharon Amdall and Kathy Chitwood discuss the amazing variety and abundance of the arts available to all in the Peoria area.

We would like to thank Suzette Boulais, who will be retiring as Executive Director for ArtsPartners prior to our March 4 lecture. Suzette made this lecture possible.

Drag Racing Mania
Thursdays, April 16-May 14
1:00-3:00 p.m.
Methodist North

It's time to stage up for drag racing, the only true American sport. We'll discuss the beginning of drag racing after the end of World War II on county roads, township roads, and airstrips, and examine its tremendous growth to the present.

Other topics of discussion will include classes of drag racing, rules and safety, exhibition events, local drag racing events, and the business side of the sport. These topics will be explored through the use of film clips. Reading materials will be provided by the facilitator for specific sessions.

$45 - facilitated by "Animal Jim" Feurer, owner of Animal Jim Racing in Lacon, IL, an NHRA certified tech official at the Route 66 Dragway in Joliet, and a six-time champion drag racer.
