GSSEF Selects Search Firm to Spearhead CEO Search

Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida's Board Chair, Lorna Brown-Burton, announced today plans for a local, state and regional executive search as part of its plans to recruit a successor for current CEO, Denise W. Valz, whose retirement plans were shared in March. Denise's volunteer and professional career with Girl Scouts spans 44 years, having served 17 years with Girl Scouts of Virginia Skyline and three years with legacy Palm Glades Council before being selected in 2008 to lead the newly formed Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida.

Under the leadership of Brown-Burton, the Council's Board of Directors has appointed the Executive Committee to facilitate the search process and recommend a nominee for the Board's consideration. Additionally, the Board has engaged the services of Evergreen Executive Source, LLC to partner with the Executive Committee on the process. Evergreen has provided executive recruitment services to Girl Scouts of the USA and Girl Scout Councils since 2001.

"Our goal is for Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida to have an exceptional leader," said Brown-Burton. "We are committed to completing a thoughtful and comprehensive search that will make certain we have the right person to lead our organization into the future."

In order to ensure that the search focuses on candidates whose knowledge, skills and abilities align with the Council's needs, the Search Committee has developed a survey that will be sent out to stakeholder groups on June 11. They are hoping for a great response from across our volunteer, parent, staff and board audiences. Surveys will come via Survey Monkey and the deadline for completion is June 18. Please be sure to check your Spam folder if you do not see the survey in your inbox.

Information regarding the position and how to apply will be posted shortly on Evergreen's website, http://www.egreensource.com/home.
