Join the New Media Girlz Team
This year we are introducing Media Girlz, our new year-long program that will give girls the chance to be included in various media opportunities, be invited to participate in special events and attend business functions with senior GSSEF staff members and to learn about public speaking, create talking points and practice business etiquette. We're looking for 15-20 Girl Scouts who ooze courage, confidence and character to be part of our new Media Girlz program.  Open to Juniors, Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors, this team of Girl Scouts will be the official girl faces and voices of GSSEF.

Interested in learning more? Click here to fill out and submit your application to be part of the Media Girlz team. Please make sure you read the participation requirements and expectations at the end of the application and upload a photo of your smiling face.

In addition, there is a Media Girlz casting call on Saturday, November 14 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Oakland Park Service Center (4701 N.W. 33rd Avenue, Oakland Park). During the meeting, we will provide details about the year-long program, review the expectations and requirements for participation and record short interviews with each of the girls.

RSVP for the Media Girlz casting call by emailing marcomm@gssef.org. Be sure to include your girl's name, Girl Scout grade level and troop number.

I Can't Wait for My Next Girl Scout Adventure!
Troop #20011 gave away 70 inches of Their Hair to Locks of Love
Shout out to Troop #20011 for planning and participating in a Locks of Love donation event at the Odeon Salon in Delray Beach. The salon owner's daughter is also a Girl Scout. The girls donated a total of 70 inches of hair to Locks of Love. The girls made it into a spa day and had lots of fun too! Way to go girls!

Troop #40182 Makes Soap as a Science Project
Do you know you can make your own soap by mixing coconut oil with sodium hydroxide? Sounds like a science project. Right?

Well, for Girl Scout Troop 40182 it was just that. Members of the troop took on the challenge  of making soap, while working on science and STEM badges under the guidance of their Troop Leader Kathy Post. In this chemistry science project, the girls carried out the chemical steps needed to transform coconut oil into a usable bar of soap.

What an awesome way for girls to become excited to learn the science of things such as soap and explore STEM as a career.

We'd Love to give You a Shout Out
