Fall Product Sale Program: October 1 - November 15
The GSSEF Fall Product Sale Program is intended to reach family, friends, teachers and neighbors. It's an awesome way for troops to earn money for their programs and activities throughout the year. Plus girls can earn awesome rewards too. The Council's Fall Product Sale Program helps girls develop five key leadership skills: goal-setting, decision making, people skills, money management and business ethics.

Fall Product Sale Online Program and Address Booklets
Besides selling in person, girls can also set up their own online store to sell nuts/candy and magazines to complement their sale. The online feature is meant to reach those customers you would not normally reach through our family and friends campaign.

The online program features  easy to use technology to ask family and friends to place or renew magazine subscriptions and/or order nuts and candy items. Also, there are customizable girl business cards. Girls/Families can contact friends and family through Facebook and Twitter too. The online order program teaches girls online marketing skills.

How to Set Up Online Store
Click here for instructions on how to set up your Girl Scout's online store. There is also a step by step video that will walk you through the process here. Click on this link to begin setting up your Girl Scout's online store for the 2015 Fall Product Sale.

Complete Postcard Address Booklets - Magazine Orders
Girls can also reach magazine order customers beyond their local family, neighbors and friends by completing the Reach Out Postcard Booklets found in their girl envelopes. It's easy to fill in with names and addresses of family and friends anywhere in the United States.  After completing the booklets, the girls return them to their troop leader. QSP (program vendor) takes care of the rest.

You can now find everything that families and troops need to Reach New Heights and support girls' activities on our web pages!

law
Explore The World of Law - November 14
We new programs for older girls! Last February, the Boy Scouts of America offered our Senior Girl Scouts a program about our legal system. Our members loved it! It was so well-received that it is being offered again. It's a program designed just for our Senior  level girls in grades 9 and 10. This program offers a unique "deep dive" into the world of law:
  • The laws that govern us - how did they come about?
  • How judges are selected?
  • What are the requirements for becoming a lawyer?
  • What attorneys really do?
  • How a trial works with (or without) a jury?
  • What the difference between civil law and criminal law?
  • Why should I care about copyright law?
In this special one-day program on Saturday, November 14th, you can learn all of it. Plus, take a look into the careers that connect to, or support, the legal system, such as law enforcement or court reporting - and even discover some up-and-coming specialties for new lawyers. This program promises to be a dynamic hands-on day for Girl Scouts considering any of these careers, or girls interested in a day of new experiences and connections.

Plus, this program will be offered FREE of charge.
Location: Palm Beach County's Main Courthouse, 205 N. Dixie Hwy. West Palm Beach, FL  Time: Look for this information in coming issues of E-News

I Can't Wait for My Next Girl Scout Adventure!

Brownie Troop #20646 went all out in August learning about women's sports, teamwork and sports rules while earning their Fair Play badge. They had fun playing octopus tag, ping-pong precision pitch, synchronized snack toss, and freestyle shake-a-thon.

While working on their badge, the girls were thrilled to meet Jacqui Kapinowski, a world renowned Olympic athlete residing in Tequesta!

Jacqui showed the girls what it truly means to be an elite athlete. They were so focused on her ABILITY, not her disability, and her positive spirit. She happily took time out of her busy schedule to enrich the lives of these fourteen 3rd grade girls. Now that's a champion!

Junior Troop #40704 and their Troop Leaders Kim Albritton and Megan Thomaselli spent time this summer collecting wish list items for SafeSpace. It's an organization that serves victims of domestic violence in Martin, St. Lucie and Indian River counties. The girls presented their donations to the ladies of Safe Space on September 10. What an awesome way to help others!

Troop #10699 took a tour of the Lighthouse Point Library before helping the library by making welcome bags for new library card holders. The girls really loved learning about the library and seeing all the books that are available to check out. Some of the girls even registered for their own library cards. The troop tries to partner a community service activity for each badge they earn. This activity was part of their My Great Day badge.  What a super idea!

A special Bridging Ceremony was held recently for the girls of Pegasus Service Unit in Okeechobee County. They were so excited to fly up to their next level of Girl Scout adventures!

We'd Love to give You a Shout Out
Do you have photos from your troop or service unit activities that you would like to share? We'd love to give you a shout out. To submit them, complete this short form here. Thank you.

Membership Database Updates
A new Girl Scout year is about to start and we want to be sure we can reach you to share exciting program updates and membership information.

Recent updates to our membership database, e-Council, now require that each record have a birth date, phone number and email address. Now is a great time for Troop Leaders to review the troop roster of registered girls and adults and to confirm all contact information including address, zip code, email, phone, birth date and school information.

Troop Leaders may update the records of the girls and adults registered into their troop by logging into the GSSEF membership database, e-Council, at www4.e-council.net and entering their email ID and password.

Need some help? No problem, we can make the updates for you. To request an update to a membership record, please contact Mileneda Joseph, council registrar, at mjoseph@gssef.org.
