Nomination applications are now being accepted for the Julia Jackson Leader Award.This award honors and recognizes a Girl Scout Leader from St. Lucie County who demonstrates exceptional leadership qualities and works toward accomplishing the mission of Girl Scouting.The recipient will be announced  at the Gems of STEM event on May 2, 2015 at the Kight Center for Emerging Technology at Indian River State College in Ft. Pierce.  

 

Criteria

A Girl Scout Leader nominated for the Julia Jackson Leader Award will have demonstrated several of the following examples of exceptional leadership:

 

  • Motivates and inspires her Girl Scouts, as well as other adult volunteers, to accomplish more than they think they can;
  • Inspires a high level of commitment from both her Girl Scouts and adult volunteers when taking on new initiatives by providing a fun and enriching experience;
  • Empowers her Girls Scouts by providing positive reinforcement and belief in each of them;
  • Creates a compelling vision for the future and helps her Girl Scouts understand their role in achieving it;
  • Seeks volunteer opportunities for which her Girl Scouts can participate, teaching the importance of selfless giving back to their community;
  • Actively shares responsibility, authority, information and credit when working towards the achievement of a goal (such as Girl Scout Cookie sales financial planning);
  • Sets a high standard of integrity by leading through example and maintains high personal standards.

 

 

Last year's winner was Dawn Borrow.
