ranger
For all they do, this Shout Out is for our Camp Rangers!

Just what does it take to keep Camp Nocatee and Camp Welaka ready for troop camping, troop programs, special events like Camp-Tastic! and camporees? And who acts as guardians, forest and wildlife managers, trouble-shooters, fixers and overall protectorates of our camp properties? The answer to both questions is our dedicated Camp Rangers.

Camp Nocatee and Camp Welaka each have a Camp Ranger who resides on the property. True, Rich Roth (Camp Nocatee) and Michael Courembis (Camp Welaka) have pretty big back yards, but those back yards keep them extremely busy! While most of us visit camp for the fun of it, Rich and Michael are constantly surveying the property and facilities to determine the kind of repairs and upgrades that are needed. There are 50 buildings at Camp Nocatee and 38 buildings at Camp Welaka. Think about how many roofs, screens, doors, steps, toilets, beds, ceiling fans and electrical breakers there are to keep track of. When something unexpected happens, Rich and Michael respond quickly to remedy the situation.

Find out how our Camp Rangers serve our membership, and what you can do. Also, remember the next time you see Michael and Rich, give them a shout out and a thank you for all they do.

Girl Scouts ROAR!     roar

Girls, parents and leaders had a ROARING good time at Lion Country Safari last weekend.

There was giraffe feeding, camel rides, paddle-boats, carousels, close encounters with wildlife Journey programs and oh so much FUN! The event at Lion Country Safari was a reward for girls in troops who participated in Early Bird re-registration for the 2014-2015 membership year.  If you missed out on the fun this year, be an Early Bird next year.

ONLINE COOKIE SALES are HERE for the 2015 Cookie Sale Program!

In recent years, we have had requests from parents and volunteers to have an online option for Girl Scout Cookie sales. So we are really excited to share that girls will be able to sell Girl Scouts Cookies through a new Digital Cookie Program during the 2015 Cookie Sale. This is in addition to the already popular and successful door-to-door and booth sales.

GSSEF will begin distributing information to Service Units, Troop Leaders and parents starting with the Service Unit Product Sale Training in November. Parents will begin to receive information for the Digital Cookie Program in early December. Parents, please make sure your email address is correct in our membership records.

If you chose not to share your email address, we respect your decision, but know that you will not receive the information and the instructions necessary in order for your Girl Scout to participate in the 2015 Digital Cookie Sale. If at this time, you wish to add your email address to your daughter's registration, please ask your Service Unit Registrar to enter this in eCouncil for you.

If you have a question, contact Denise Fiorelli, director of product and retail sales, at [email protected] or 561-427-0180.
