I Heard It Through the Green Grapevine

This recurring feature will help dispel the myths and rumors we often hear through the Girl Scout "Green Grapevine." Most of the answers can be found in our Essentials documents in the Volunteer Vault.

Dear Green Grapevine-

As a parent, how much am I entitled to know about the Troop's Treasury?

Thanks-

Lynn Meabuck

Troop funds are generated to help support program activities planned by girls. These funds may be obtained through troop dues, council-sponsored product programs, special money-earning projects or troop sponsorship.  All funds are maintained in the Troop Treasury; Troop leaders and account signers are the guardians of money belonging to the troop and are charged with safeguarding all monies collected in the name of Girl Scouts.

honorHONOR A VOLUNTEER!

Nomination period: February 15-March 15, 2014

Each year we ask our membership to nominate amazing volunteers who have gone above and beyond for our girls. We're excited to announce that this year the Adult Recognition Committee and Council staff have created a new online system for submitting nominations. This system will make it easier to nominate more volunteers than ever before. Not tech savvy? That's ok; we'll have the traditional packet available as well.

Each and every one of us knows someone who is deserving of being recognized for their hard work and dedication to Girl Scouts.  Please take a moment to visit our website and nominate someone for a Girl Scout Recognition Award!  Imagine the joy that will be felt when they receive an award for being a great mentor for our girls. Click here to complete an online nomination or click here to download a recognition packet today.  Don't delay as the submission deadline is March 15!

journeyJoin us for a Journey!

A leadership journey is an exciting series of themed activities focused on building specific leadership skills. All the leadership keys of Discover, Connect, and Take Action along with the Girl Scout processes of Girl Led, Cooperative Learning, and Learning by Doing are woven through each journey.

For all three leadership Journey series -  the adult guide and the girl book have everything a volunteer needs to help inspire the girls and to assist them as they go and are fully customizable.

Join us for an online informational session to help you determine which Journey is best, what resources are available and how they all work together!  Internet access is required. The cost per adult/per class is $3. Once registered, a link to access the online system will be emailed to you prior to the session.

Introducing the new GSSEF Program Calendar Supplement

This tool was requested by volunteers in order to make finding the perfect Girl Scout program easier to do! No matter how long you have been volunteering, we have designed this to be a helpful supplement to the Online Program Calendar - complete with simple-to-follow online registration instructions too. Now our parents and volunteers can scroll through 4 months of upcoming programs and read the full program description prior to referencing it on the eCouncil Registration system - and before completing registration with a debit or credit card. You can find this Online Program Calendar Supplement on our web site at: http://www.gssef.org/girl-program/ with other program updates throughout the year.
