I Heard It Through the Green Grapevine

This recurring feature will help dispel the myths and rumors we often hear through the Girl Scout "Green Grapevine." Most of the answers can be found in our Essentials documents in the Volunteer Vault.

This is my daughter's first year selling Girl Scout Cookies.Do you have any tips for parents so that can help her achieve her goal of selling 100 boxes?

Sincerely-

Ivana Samoa

A parent/guardian can help her/his girl by first giving permission for her to sell Girl Scout Cookies, which it sounds as if you've already done!  You should also attend the cookie training for her troop/group.Knowing your daughter's goal is important.  Selling cookies teaches girls financial literacy, and goal setting is a key component.

What's Your Cookie Story?

cookie sale save the date Each year, girls do amazing things with the proceeds they earn from the Cookie Sale Program. They purchase police badges for the canine officers, take trips of a lifetime, collect supplies to cheer up sick kids at local children's hospitals and donate money to local animal shelters.

We want to show South Florida what a simple purchase of a box of cookies means to their community. We want them to know that through Girl Scouts, girl learn how to make the world a better place - one girl, one dollar and one cookie at a time.

We'd like to hear your cookie story. Please fill out the form found here, or send us an email at [email protected] or share your cookie proceeds plans on our Facebook page. We will be using the stories we collect in our marketing and public relations efforts throughout the year. If you have any questions, please contact Melinda Glasco, Director of Marketing Communications at [email protected] or 561-427-0176.
