I Heard It Through the Green Grapevine
This recurring feature will help dispel the myths and rumors we often hear through the Girl Scout "Green Grapevine." Most of the answers can be found in our Essentials documents in the Volunteer Vault.
Dear Green Grapevine-
One of the parents in my Troop is a law enforcement officer. They are required to carry their firearm with them at all times. Can they attend a Girl Scout activity while carrying their weapon?
Sincerely-
Miss Demeanor

Calling all Girl Scouts! We are looking to show off the amazing work our Girl Scouts girls and volunteers do! We want to spotlight community service projects, volunteer work of a Girl Scout or volunteer going above and beyond. Please email your Girl Scouts Give Back story and a photo (if available) to sbeigh@gssef.org.
Operation Christmas Child
For the last several years, troops from Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida, joined in a community outreach effort - OCC Southeast Florida. This year was no exception. Over 300 girls this past weekend participated and learned about community outreach. They packed over 500 shoe-boxes with crafts, letters and other goodies to be distributed to children in need across the globe over the holidays and beyond.
See more photos here.
Go Bananas for Brownies
On Sunday October 27, over 150 Brownies gathered at Wolf Lake Park in Davie. As part of the program's community service component, they collected goods to donate to the Center for Great Apes and learned all about apes and monkeys. And of course, the girls also enjoyed banana splits.
The donations will be brought to the Center by the older girls who helped to lead the activities during the event.

On November 6, 2013, Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida sent our annual appeal letter via email. Unfortunately, the mailing list inadvertently included some of our girl members. While we count on our families to support Girl Scouting, it is never our intention to solicit donations from girls, and we apologize if your Girl Scout received this email communication. Thank you for your support of Girl Scouts. Should you have any questions, please contact PJ Layng at pjlayng@gssef.org or 561-427-0181.
