Time to mark your calendar. This year's Fall Product Sale Program runs from October 1 to November 15, 2013. This year's theme is Be Your Best You. There are many new and exciting ways to participate.

What are the benefits to participating in the Fall Product Sale Program? Here are several:
  • It is a QUICK and EASY way to generate start-up funds for your troop
  • Girls get a chance to run a business and practice leadership skills
  • Because of its built-in Program facet, it is great for troops that are just forming or participating for the first time
  • Girls learn valuable teamwork, goal setting and confidence building skills

Let your friends and family know to save their magazine subscription orders for the sale. And also tell them to get ready to enjoy some yummy new nut and candy items. Additional information will be available through your daughter's troop leader in September.

dayAll About Awards Day is BACK this Fall!

It was so popular, we decided to do it again!!!  All About Awards Day on Saturday, November 2 will feature three different sessions to provide detailed information on the pursuit of group Bronze and Silver Awards, as well as information for individual girls ready to travel the road to Gold. Additionally, we are hosting a Community Partner Expo for girls to meet with local non-profits who also work to make this world a better place to live in.

All About Awards

It's a BIG day and it's totally free, but seats in the Award sessions are limited. Register with  the specific links on this flyer.

The group was thanked by Lorna Brown-Burton for attending the 'get to know us' evening and their willingness to continue supporting the organization and the girls we serve.

foreverForever Girl Scouts
How can you make something as valuable as Girl Scouts last forever? By remembering Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida in your estate plan or through a charitable annuity, you will be able to help shape the lives of girls for years to come.

Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida should continue to exist for years to come so that generations upon generations of girls have the opportunity to grow and learn to become great women - girls like you, your daughter, your mother, your sister, and your aunt.

For more information about ways to support Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida through planned giving, please contact PJ Layng at or 561-427-0181.

vineI Heard it Through the Green Grapevine!
This recurring feature in E-News will help dispel the myths and rumors we often hear through the Girl Scout "Green Grapevine." Most of the answers can be found in our Volunteer Essentials documents in the Volunteer Vault. As always, if you need an answer to any question, you can always email and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.

Dear Green Grapevine-

This may be a silly question, but, can men be Girl Scouts?

Will E. Belong

There are no silly questions! And the answer is yes, men can even be leaders and troop volunteers!

Girl Scout membership is granted to any person, age 18 or older, who accepts the organization's principles and beliefs as stated in the Preamble of the Constitution of Girl Scouts of the USA; and has paid the annual membership dues. Beyond that, men can also serve in leadership roles. Like any other volunteer they will need to submit a volunteer application and successfully pass our background check. Male adult members may serve in a troop/group; which includes being designated as the Leader with a minimum of one unrelated female adult member who serves the same troop/group as Co-Leader.

Male leaders are required to have an unrelated female co-leader and may need to rely on additional female volunteers in the Troop in order to ensure they meet the girl/adult ratios for meetings, traveling and camping. Details on how many females are needed for these activities can be found in the Volunteer Essentials Manual and our Volunteer Policies and Procedures.

There are occasionally some events where men are not allowed. These are usually ones where separate sleeping quarters cannot be provided (like Mall Madness) and this information is included on the event's promotional materials.

We also have events designed exclusively for men to participate with their daughters. Our Dude, That's My Dad summer camp session was wildly popular and many Service Units hold daddy-daughter events.

If you have a question you'd like the Green Grapevine to answer, please email
