  The Importance of Spell-Check

Newsletter
How spell check can  help create an unintentionally amusing situation, as I learned ever so painfully last month.

Spell-check so brilliantly offers first options in many cases that with a quick click and not much thought can change the entire meaning of your sentence or as I discovered in the case of my sub-title. Yes, I must share - I misspelled the word importance and my first changed option was you got it --- impotence!

On a more serious note...I am asked often how to maintain quality staff and where the money being spent on health insurance benefits should be focused.  Insurance is certainly one of those things were one size fits all is not the case.
Insurance is a very personal and tailored service.  I have had the great pleasure of designing and implementing plans of all shapes and sizes...I have learned that what might make sense to one company or individual may not always make sense for another. This is where good listening comes in,  I take pride in this learned ability and as an employer listening to the needs of your employees will benefit all.  A happy employee is ultimately a more productive employee - growth and
increased productivity is what we are all seeking.

Sincerely,

Frank Hanlon, President

Greetings!
A new year and a new decade have arrived.  2009 will go down in the history books as the year, Canada saw the worst recession in 60 years.  A wide range of indicators point to improving conditions - global trade volume has stabilized, share prices have rebounded, commodity priced indices are trending up, and consumer and business confidence is gradually returning worldwide.

As we enter into this New Year we all tend to have a heightened sense of the opportunities and possibilities that a new year can bring.

Goal-setting is powerful, goals can provide us with a long-term vision to help us get past short - term obstacles. In order to reach our goals we must become better. We must change to grow.

I encourage you to take a few moments this week to evaluate and reflect.

Enjoy your day!

Attraction & Retention

As owners and managers of a small business, you know the importance of getting and keeping good people.  You need quality and you need continuity - a long-term employee will generate substantially more profits for your company than a series of short-term employees.

One major factor in giving employees a sense of security and satisfaction is a solid benefits plan.  When they don't have to worry about medical expenses, or financial protection against a disability, they can focus on their work.

Implementation of an Employee Benefits Program or the enhancement of their current program can address these concerns and will provide a meaningful incentive for high-quality employees to join and stay with your company.

Discover how to build moral among employees

As the current economic situation puts pressure on organizations' bottom line, workers are also feeling the strain. The result can often be decreased morale. In a recent survey of 60,000 workers, 80 per cent reported they were stressed at work "sometimes to always." Stress is the largest health-related productivity cost at work, so ensuring your employee's stress levels are low not only benefits the individual but the organization as a whole. And as employees serve as ambassadors for your organization, their happiness can make or break its reputation to job seekers, clients and stakeholders. Good morale promotes good business. Read on to discover how you can build morale among your employees.
